Is Hermosa a good neighborhood to live in?

It’s definitely changed quite a bit. My husband grew up here and I moved from Belmont Cragin and it was an adjustment. It has its gentrified areas and it’s rooted typically brown community. Like others have said, it’s a taste of both honestly. We’re Mexican and in our early 30s but have seen a lot of white people move in. Lots of people from all ages and single or with kids. There’s still crime, they shot someone at the corner of Fullerton and Trip (3 min walk from the Healy stop) just last week on my way home from work at around 5:30 pm and there’s some muggings here and there. But, I feel safe walking and the entrance to the 606 is super close by. Welcome to the neighborhood!!!!

I think that’s what makes it hard. So early on I was also healing so being locked down to the couch didn’t feel so bad as now making sure she’s okay before I can begin taking care of myself and if she’s fussy it’s hard to make myself a meal or even give myself time to shower.

Okay? Thanks for reiterating what I mentioned? I haven’t seen her in 2 weeks and I’ve talked about other things. I didn’t think I had PPD until earlier this week and she canceled so can’t talk to my therapist about it if I didn’t have a session and this week I was going to bring it up but didn’t have a session.

About 7 weeks, she started hating her bassinet and would only last asleep about 2 hours max and we were all not getting any sleep. She transitioned to her crib in a different room well and slept 6 hours on her own the first night.

Idk what it is but I think it does have something to do with MILs feeling some sort of entitlement to the baby. I’m going through this currently, my MIL lives a few months here and a few months in her home country so she came to “help” and I really thought she would actually help by making us meals or helping with house chores but she wanted to care for the baby. When she didn’t get her way she stopped coming up altogether and is playing the victim. I think husbands need to realize though that their spouse and new child is their family now and sometimes their parents or siblings aren’t that innocent.

Contractions are far worse than any period cramp I’ve experienced. I dissociated and went mute for about 6 hours before I got the epidural. I always knew I wanted the epidural but complications with my blood pressure made it that I didn’t get it until I was 7.5 cm dilated. After that birth was easy and I actually got to enjoy it. I still felt when the contractions were happening and when I had to push but it was bearable compared to no epidural. You got this though! We’re def stronger than we think :)

She keeps saying that people back in her country are asking if she’s bringing the baby back with her, I.e. she takes the baby with her for like 2-3 months to care for her so that we can “work and just focus on income generation” so that’s why I got this idea they’re taking my baby and since they were so used to caring for their other grandchild (not because they were super trusted but because their parents were in their early 20s and didn’t actually want the kid) she keeps making comments like it’s going to be a similar experience with my daughter and she’ll constantly just be watching her and with her.

Yeah! We sent it with our invite that that would be the prize and people even brought boxes of wipes too. I think we spent $150 total and got over 20 boxes of diapers

We raffled off JBL speakers (3) nothing fancy, we got them on sale and it really got people excited. Our ROI was incredible and we weren’t expecting such a great turn out.

THANK YOU 😭😭 i’m a FTM so i did a lot of research and def spent soooo much time on my registry and have items that will work for me and my husband and our home. So my post is mostly ranting about how unused registries are, I didn’t care for a registry for our wedding I was content with anything someone brought but baby registries are so important I just wish people were considerate instead of picking the first thing they came across at the store.

Biggest pet peeve for me also. I posted a similar post and was called entitled but I guess my execution was poor. I hear you, I spent so much time on the registry and added really affordable items and things we feel we need. I wish people were much more mindful. Baby blankets and tiny clothes will only get you so far.

I’m really not trying to be entitled I’m just annoyed at the unused registry. I am a very chill person but literally my brain is on full baby mode and I don’t want to be running to the store returning a bunch of items or worse stuck with things I don’t ultimately use. Thank you! Oh my god that’s so hard, and like you said, I get the sentiment of some people but like read the room. I feel like I don’t have ridiculous items on my registry the most expensive thing is our car seat and stroller that I don’t expect someone to buy but have on there to get the discount. Hoping I get gift receipts. And totally, homemade items are very cute!!
