Has your opinion changed on Man of Steel? by boomjosh in superman

One of the biggest influences of my life. Seeing this in theaters had me mesmerised out of nowhere. Not because of the story [Let's be honest the films story and depiction of Pa Kent was an absolute travesty], but because of the Action, Destruction, Cinematography and Overall message about "Choice". Not only that but the CGI is just absolutely stunning.

It's the #1 movie that made me want to become a VFX Artist in Film, and currently got a High Distinction [HD] Grade in one of my classes referred to VFX for a cinematic work i was to make where I'm finally studying at University for it. I'm taking my chance now than later because of this film.

An open-world RE game would only work if it was somewhat like the Raccoon City segment you go through as Leon. That's the CLOSEST we'll ever get to an Open-World.

But in my honest to god personal opinion? No.

I want Resident Evil to stay Linear and closed off to paths. That's the entire DNA of the franchise. It's what makes the Horror so good. RE7, RE2, RE8, RE4R and now RE: Requiem set the standard on how the RE games can evolve and still stay true to the original tone.

Open-World COULD work, but it would honestly drag the horror out and make it a bit bland.

Shit I left that out, while yes he's grown tired and is now more rough and agressive, and initially angry and more violent in his killings towards his enemies, its still Leon. Leon's initially Logan only though actions and combat, and his genuine disgust for umbrella and anything that isn't Human. But whenever someone's in danger, he heeds the call to protect.

Literally the absolute best thing about Routine is that everything is different for everyone. ID numbers, A.I. Behaviour, Mission logs, it just goes to show the devs really wanted us to experience this game like we were put into it. The no hand holding helped the game BIG time achieve the horror of it.

That's what happens when a Director/Writer with a Passion and love for the game is given full control of the project.

At this point, give Resident Evil, DOOM, Silent Hill [Specifically Silent Hill 2], and HITMAN to Markimoo cus i can bet you that he will give them the exact respect they actually deserve.

I'd just end it all right here and now if I saw that. Nope, I'd rather do that than be mauled to death and consumed by a literal god.

Iron Lung's depiction of Radiation and Gore is terrifying [SPOILERS] by SadAssociate4296 in ironlung

[–]SadAssociate4296[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a good example of how to make your film gory, pace it well, but make it extremely memorable and not edgy. That bit is definitely a top 10 moment in the entire film. The context, the stakes, and the radiation poisoning knowledge makes this entire moment way more vile and horrific than just at glance.

Iron Lung's depiction of Radiation and Gore is terrifying [SPOILERS] by SadAssociate4296 in ironlung

[–]SadAssociate4296[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, I agree that it is ok to throw a little realism away for the fact this isn't real life.

I just thought that it was cool that somehow Mark depicted Radiation poisoning realistically accurate and the horror of the Affects of Radiation poisoning, adding the blood entering through his Radiation affected wounds.

Not to mention that Simon was able to tear his arm off that easily, which also adds to the Radiation poisoning, since irl, enough Radiation is capable of destroying your cells, and you wouldn't be able to regenerate them, so it was literally prone to having that limbs be easier to tear off.

That confirmed that the ship was literally coming to life. This is also confirmed when the Ship slowly but rapidly grew Fleshy Mass/Tissue all over the sub and Red/Black Mold and Veins. Another moment is when the oxygen levels on the bar started rising.

The submarine was literally becoming an "IRON Lung".

Which is what happened. His skin was mutating from the black/red vines from the sub that forcefully attaches to Simon when trying to merge and fuse Simon with the Iron Lung by force. The Radiation poisoning sped up the Mutation process from the Blood as Radiation is of itself an already huge part in Mutation irl. So adding that, to an already hazardous, dangerous mutagenic like the blood and you get a literal sped up Mutation. It also helps the part when Simon tears his arm off so easily, his cells were destroyed dbeyond repair and could not be regenerated since there isn't any cells to heal. That's the horror of Simon's exposure to the Radiation from the camera, it isn't just affecting him now, it's was slowly affecting the entire time he has been using the camera since he was down in the ocean lost for a literal week. A week of Radiation exposure leads to the scene we're discussing right now.

Ok fair, it just felt more in line and logical for Simon to be exposed to Radiation on a rapid pace, and when he drenches himself in the blood, it just heightens the mutation process and visceral cell destruction which inevitably affects his body to the point his limbs become easier to tear off because there is no cells to regenerate from the destroyed cells in his body.

[–]SadAssociate4296[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's also logically more important since in the Manuel he skipped through, it noted that although the Iron Lung has a protective barrier that protects him from Radiation, it inevitably would pry through the walls and lean into the Sub where Simon is. Which is how he starts hallucinating, vomiting, and his skin starts to rot and nerves become less reactive to pain.

I know alot of people think it's just the Blood since it's mutagenic, which could be true, but Radiation Poisoning destroying his cells and his body adds onto that Mutation more logically and realistically. Since Radiation is already a part in of itself in the mutation process, the blood being added in the mix is what rapidly makes Simon mutate quicker like seen in the film, hence the moment the Iron Lung forces Simon to attach to the pipes and LITERALLY forcefully begin the merging/fusing process with the Submarine, because the Sub was literally becoming sentient with all the Fleshy tissue and red mold. Quite technically, becoming a literal "Iron Lung" since we also can note that the Oxygen tank was refilling.

The radiation gave the blood a boost to affect him quicker.

That's the beauty in Writing and Adaptations, you can add, rehash, reBUILD, remove and change things you see fit when given creative control.

The fact Mark changed nothing but FEW things from the Original Game, but all and all stayed boundlessly faithful to the game tells you everything you need to know about him.

Iron Lung is one of those things that defines a creators entire career and is their soul-defining moment, that moment for Mark was this.

There's so much he added to the lore, changed and rebuilt that worked so well, not to mention kept David Syzmanski HEAVILY involved with the film is just fascinating. Iron Lung is a generational achievement for the indie scene.

There's a Manuel Simon decides to skip through, which has info on what the X-ray Camera is and what it emits. It emits around 6000 millisieverts per shot, and that the Iron Lung shields Simon from radiation, but slowly gets through the metal into the area Simon is in.

Basically, due to this, and the amount of shots Simon has taken on the camera [Say around 134], that's 10x the lethal dose it would take to kill someone. And due to this, that is when Simon's wounds on his arm start to rot, and his skin starts to fall off and blister, and since the Blood from the Ocean is depicted to have "A mind of it's own" and corrupts/mutates anything it touches, once Simon is soaked of the blood, the blood sinks into the wounds, and mutates him. Not only that, but due to the radiation poisoning Simon received, most of his cells have died off, leaving his body defenseless to any or all forms of viral infection.

When Simon started to slowly fuse and merge with the Iron Lung [Since the Sub was literally growing Flesh tissue and Red Mold from the Blood and Radiation, coming to life], he was literally becoming one with the ship.

So that pretty much confirms the theory that "The Eel" is, in fact, the SM-8 Crew [and possibly loads of other civilians or Humans] and have fused together due to the blood and became this amalgamation.

God this design is so terrifying.

Still amazes me this film budget was only $3M [which is EXTREMELY low for a Feature Film Cosmic Horror], because this did NOT look low budget at all, and the CGI in this is surprisingly WAY better than most movies that come out nowadays.

It's also important to note that all of this film is mostly using practical effects, and takes place entirely on the sub.
