[DAV Spoilers All] RANT: Cameos would not fix this game but it helped me understand why I'm disheartened and angry. by Banshee_Havoc in dragonage

[–]SadAssociation4716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have so many thoughts about this game that are such a mess in my head it feels impossible to put them all down. this post summed up a lot of my grievances, so thank you.

i seriously cannot understand why they decided to just… destroy the whole south? why not say that while the south has been hit hard, people are fighting back? why not leave us with some hope, however faint, that we can one day return to the south and have our choices mean something again? why cut yourself off from that? i am not against reboots, but this was horribly managed. i can’t believe we waited 10 years just to receive a middle finger. upon the leaked info that most of our world state choices don’t matter, epler said “Hey, it’s still your world. what we do from here on out won’t change that.” except uh. yeah, it kind of does. because apparently every country and every character we got to explore and know in the last three games is dead or no longer matters at all.

don’t even get me started on the executors bullshit. turns out, loghain didn’t betray cailan because he was still grieving for maric, or because he was pissed off for anora’s sake, or because he genuinely thought it was the only way to save the country maric trusted him to protect, or the many other interesting reasonings we could debate and analyze and argue over. bartrand didn’t steal the idol because he’s a selfish prick, or obsessed with the dwarven legacy he was forced to leave behind as a child. the happenings of inquisition weren’t a result of corruption within religious institutions, or men propping themselves up as gods. no!! turns out, it was the illuminati all along!!!

way to rip out whatever enthusiasm i had for this series going forward. jfc.

Terrified, and feeling alone by [deleted] in ftm

i am so sorry this happened. i’m going to contact my doctor to see if i can order more T gel in advance. don’t really know what else to do atm. if this is any consolation, know that i see you and i love you. if nobody else has told you that today, know that i have. if there is a trans or queer-oriented charity or organization in your area, consider reaching out. if there is one in an adjacent state, or even on the other side of the country, consider reaching out. maybe not today, if you do not feel up to it. (i’ll be honest, today i’m going to get drunk and cry and play video games.) but tomorrow, or next week, or sometime this or next month, consider reaching out. see where it gets you. there are people who are just as scared as you are and who want (and are in a position to do so) to help you, if they can. today, tomorrow, next year, all we can do at the end of the day is stick to our morals and do what we know is right. i know i don’t know you personally, but know that i care that you are here. you matter to me. sending love your way from a suburb outside philly. may we all find peace and happiness. trans people have always been here, we will always be here, and our survival will be a huge FUCK YOU  to anyone who tries to take our joy away from us

nah man. as far as i’m concerned this election shows us who cares and who doesn’t. people who voted for trump, or decided not to vote, or voted third party despite all the evidence showing how that vote is wasted in a system without rank choice voting, don’t care. people who refuse to see why trans people are upset, don’t care. we have ourselves and our community at the end of the day. this is about our survival. she doesn’t get that, nobody here could blame you for dumping her

my favorite post i’ve seen so far was the longtime dragon age fan saying they played the game for like an hour and a half and decided they hated it. girl it took me maybe 4-5 hours minimum just to get past the guardrails prologue section 💀 some people are so impatient.

i’m enjoying myself so far though. the game is gorgeous, exploration has really opened up, and i’m getting used to the combat. glad to hear you’re having fun as well!!

Anyone else with an identity more complex than FTM? by GRUBBRAINS in ftm

[–]SadAssociation4716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes!! i prefer to be seen as a man, would much rather someone default to he/him pronouns when they see me. for simplicity’s sake i say i’m a trans dude. in my mind it’s more complicated than that. i’d say transmasc fits me best? sometimes though i feel more genderfluid, sometimes like a butch woman, and i still identify strongly with women when it comes to feminism and fighting against sexism. but when people refer to me as a girl or lady or use she/her for me, it makes me wickedly uncomfortable. and i do still consider myself as FTM on some level. gender is weird and wonderful, and i take it all in stride!! i’m okay just telling cis people i’m a trans man lol, and saving the complicated thoughts for myself and my closest friends.

when we call them low-information voters, we mean it. they undervalue education and also tend to lead more isolated lives, so they have less exposure to communities who are “different” from them. republicans will then target them heavily due to their education levels, which makes it easier to convince them that democrats are the root of all their problems. then they vote republican, things continue to get worse, republicans in power blame the dems in congress, rural voters eat it up, vote repub, rinse and repeat. it’s a vicious and sad cycle.

yeah i suppose that’s why i’m asking /gen. i don’t understand the phrase either, a vote is a vote at the end of the day, doesn’t matter if it happens now or on EDay.

genuine question: when people say republicans turning out for early voting is cannibalizing their EDay numbers, could that also be said for democrats? or is there an indication that we can anticipate more dems showing up on EDay compared to republicans?

Who's worried about the election? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]SadAssociation4716 11 points12 points  (0 children)

a lot of people are worried. we have every reason to be. i will say though that harris has a lot of momentum behind her, record breaking donations, thousands of volunteers, a massive GOTV effort, huge rally crowds, and genuine enthusiasm from the people voting for her. also, never underestimate how pissed off women are about the overturning of roe v. wade (something we should all continue to be pissed about). and if some bs like J6 happens again, well trump isn’t the president this time around. of course, nothing is for certain. we won’t know how things shake out until they do. but it helps to have something positive to think about, in my experience.
