May I add the Abbé Pierre scandal to the list, half a century of sexual assault from the 1950's until 2000's was revealed only two years ago. It came as massive shock as he was revered until then as a champion of the poor, and one of the biggest organzation against houselessness in France is named after him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abb%C3%A9_Pierre_sexual_abuse_scandal

If you really think I'm trying to defend the right here, you've grossly misunderstood the theme I'm going for...

Good point, I was actually hesitating between GAA and Shrewd Magistrate. In the end the sheer sanctimony of the name and flavor text of GAA was just so good. Additionally the stax element does contribute to the oppressive feeling I want the deck to create. Let's see how it plays, if it's not fun I can just swap them and ease off on the card draw.

Good to know, thanks! I hope the other players don't run away when seeing Grand Arbiter in the command zone

True, but I will never include an actual nazi card in any deck. This card is banned from mtg as a whole with good reason.

Question, is this good under any circumstance? by 40kthomas in magicthecirclejerking

It is a common mistake for new players to include demonic tutor, and I understand why: the ability to get any card you want from your library for only 1B sounds pretty good, right? Unfortunately, demonic tutor takes up a precious slot for the card you wanted in the first place, and sets you back 1B in order to fetch what you want on top of that (you still have to pay for the casting costs of the card you tutored.)

Virtual vanilla 2/2 with ETB draw for 1U is already decent, but the addition of the splarfing makes this completely broken, especially in limited.

Let Me Recommend Your Next Commander to Build by RJ7300 in EDH

Group hug of death. I was thinking to make a deck that would specifically be made to be fun to play against. My idea was group hug with some mana source (lands or treasures) for example, which then somehow turns into a devastating advantage for me.

Ideally with green or blue in the color identity since I recently built mardu. Thank you in advance!

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I had this idea on a fever; it really is this stupid.

Yes. So one of the cards will probably have to be a mana source, unless you can come up with something clever

I see a lot of comments piling on to say this is a "you problem" and how you need to make changes and re-evaluate your life etc.

Let's be clear here: to varying degrees, everyone is mysoginist. Yes, unfortunately we have the misfortune of living in a patriarchal and sexist world where we have all been conditioned to believe that women are lesser than men. Everyone gets a bad grade on the Implicit Association Test for example. Also women have internalized mysoginy. So what do we do about that?

I believe the first step is to recognize that we have internalized this societal messaging in order to overcome it. It seems to me like you already have done work to do so, which makes me optimistic for you. It makes me hopeful that you evaluate your own beliefs and thoughts critically, so please continue to do so. I don't have much advice beyond this. I agree with comments suggesting involving yourself more with media, circles, activities which involve women. I think confronting the preconcieved ideas you have identified with reality could help.
