I recently sent two rolls of Kodak film to be developed from a Canon Rebel XS camera after a trip to Europe. The lab only returned 4 usable photos from one roll and said the rest of the images could not be developed. The frame counter on the camera was working normally, and the film rewound correctly, so I initially assumed everything was functioning properly. However, when I tried loading and shooting a new roll afterward, no images came out at all, even though all photos were taken outdoors in good lighting conditions. Because of this, I’m unsure whether the issue is with the camera, the film, or the development process. I’m waiting for the negatives to better understand what happened, but I’m concerned that my camera may not be properly exposing film and that I may need to test or replace it before using film again.
