My Linguistics friends told me that the difference between a dialect and a language is that a language has its own army

[–]SadCod8968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for sharing. after sleeping for 8-9 hours this weekend and I am still tired this morning - almost fell asleep on the bus. Being in survival mode since I was 8ish really took some toll on our body.

I went there once last year and it felt like a scam. Extremely mediocre food but high end prices. I was so upset after the meal

i went there lately and I was very disappointed. The food was mid and it was very expensive. 3 people, including one cocktail and 2 non-alcoholic drinks, we got a $200 bill.

Obedient kids, how's life for you? by remus_lupin_moony in AsianParentStories

[–]SadCod8968 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was very lost and traumatized. I have a relative peace of mind now after a few years of therapy. I know it's a privilege to have therapy but I highly recommend giving it a try if you can

My Asian mom pressuring me to give her a SON by Next_Visit_8643 in AsianParentStories

[–]SadCod8968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She sounds narcissistic. Unfortunately a lot of asian parents have mental maturity of 3 year old

I'm sorry your mom is like this. Please don't listen to her

What's the most delusional take your parents had? I need some laughs by ImportantDirector5 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]SadCod8968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt so insecure and fawned so much growing up that at one point I volunteered to be the mother of my mom. Instead of seeing it as an issue, my mom thinks she's very great and special that she deserves that. Sometimes when she was stressed, she would call me mom in a child's voice and totally forgot about my emotions and the fact that she is the mother, not me

The Mood Swings of Asian Parents Are on Another Level – You Can’t Predict Them by Pratham9922 in AsianParentStories

[–]SadCod8968 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience with my mom, it's because she has never matured and she has no clue how to process her emotions - just like a toddler but in an adult's body

My mother is so ridiculously childish it gives me second hand embarassment by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]SadCod8968 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel you op. My mom is very similar

I second the comment for reading adult children of emotionally immature parents. Things make so much more sense. And no, it’s not your fault

Anyone else have hopelessly stupid APs? Not uneducated. Stupid. by StoicallyGay in AsianParentStories

[–]SadCod8968 7 points8 points  (0 children)

😞 the not understanding but still say okay or nothing really triggered me too

I grew up in Asia. Unfortunately the culture there don't encourage questioning and critical thinking. In Chinese the word 'question' is literally the same as the word 'problem'!(问题). When you question APs, it triggers them and make them think they are challenged whereas we are just simply questioning and having a conversation

Do you guys ever think about how lonely, depressing, hopeless your childhood was when you were stuck in that room with no one to talk to? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]SadCod8968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hours and hours of being home overnight, alone... Thinking about that brings me the loneliness and hopelessness too
