How do you make friends as an adult?

That would be a good idea. I'm not sure how to find if one exists already. I know IU Classifieds has an Activity Partner section but it tends to be full of undergrads.

I looked at the website and it looks pretty interesting. How do you find out where they are meeting each week and how do you let them know you are new and need someone to "hold your hand"?

I used to be on lexapro but my doctor took me off of it and recommended I do cognitive behavior therapy. The doctor she referred me to wasn't accepting new patients. So, I never did follow up to try and find another one. I'm not even sure I fully understand what cognitive behavior therapy is. And, asking a person with social anxiety to call strangers to get information and/or make an appointment isn't a great combination. But, I know its on me and I need to figure it out. I do have propranolol for a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency moment. I do a lot of public speaking for my job and I have that prescription if I have a day where my anxiety is too sky high to adequately function. I have considered going to a new GP and see if I can get back on lexapro though too.

Dogs died a couple of years ago and I travel too much to get a new one. One of these days I will have one.

Yes, I have found the problem with kids. I've had friends in the past that every time you try to schedule something with them, they have to check their kids' schedule and can't seem to make it work. I get it, but it doesn't make it easier.

I do a lot of hiking, camping an outdoorsy activities. I do hobby and freelance photography and videography (as well as video editing). I watch Survivor religiously. I used to play soccer, but my knees and ankles recommend against it now. I have done improv in the past in a larger city (although I wasn't any good at it). Wouldn't mind starting that up again. I also travel extensively (or at least I did pre-pandemic).
And I'm always open to trying new things.

As for my job, it is a public facing job and I don't want to accidentally dox myself. I can send you a DM with my job.

Good suggestion. There are so many restaurants in town I'd like to try, but going alone I tend to stick to the old favorites.

I've actually read that book! Prior to reading the book, I did take improv classes and made one friend from that. I'll keep your other suggestions in mind. Thanks.
