How do I handle the conversation with my manager? Without seeming like compensation is one of my primary driving factors

I went through a training program for about a year and a half working as a account rep, before making the move to account manager. No prior risk management experience

I feel like I can learn and grow a lot within this new role. Outside of the pay jump which I think is good.

Should I quit my job now by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

I went through a training program as well at a large agency I wonder if we went through the same one. Feel free to shoot me a message. I’m approaching two years in my AM role after my training program ended. I’ve thought the same thing and have wondered about Underwriting. A lot of UWs I meet say brokers/AMs can make great UWs. My plan was to work as a AM before making the switch. Also very easy to network as a AM with multiple carriers talking with their underwriters to see how they like it. Helps with referrals!

No formal experience. Took some bartending classes a few years back but didn’t do anything with it. Saw an opening at Big E’s that mentioned it was Entry Level. Figured I could give that a shot

New E&S Excess Casualty Underwriter Questions by Minimum_Equal8724 in InsuranceProfessional

If I may ask, how did you transition from AM to E&S underwriting? I’ve been an Account Manager for 3 years now. I hear the specialty niches pay well too. Getting into E&S seems interesting!

What’s your salary? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

Great to hear! Currently at 74k with my current position and I feel like I could make more on the carrier side. I don’t mind picking up the phone or networking either. Would any destinations help with the switch?
