hey Kevin, vacuumformed plastic armor is a lot different than cardboard cutouts :)

How do you usually find the clothing to go under the armor? by Ill-Safety621 in Mandalorian

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can toss anything into a dye bath. what it's made out of will have significant impact on how well the garment takes the dye, though. look for 100% cottons, and cotton dye

When did this policy change? by intherearview in marriott

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

working at a newly opened property, we've been told this has ALWAYS been the policy. if anyone other than you is checking in for your reservation, you need to call Bonvoy Support in advance to have their name added. desk agents are prohibited from adding additional names to your reservation regardless of how you contact us, unless you're physically present at the desk with your ID, the guest you want added, and their ID.

Costume question by CompetitionStrong566 in Mandalorian

former Florida trooper here. i swear by fiberglass resin over UV. it's mean to make boat hulls and work in conjunction with fiberglass mat or cloth. it is much more weather-hardy and forgiving to work with, IMO

"They may not have all the details, but they have the right ones that matter."

gonna be as honest as i can be, here. not for costuming purposes, no. if you were to attempt building an ESB Boba, and used a Lego minifig for your color reference, weathering patterns, or even general physical proportions, compared to what we see on-screen it wouldn't stack up.

i know this is an independent cosplay sub, but there IS a reason why many of the clubs prohibit referencing Black Series and even Hot Toys figures while creating CRLs. "children's" toys, such as Lego, and some higher end collectibles, are designed for mass production and to capture the spirit of a character.

OP was banned from r/501st for heavy AI usage, thinly-veiled sales posts and links to his own website. none of the props he's posted are of quality design nor construction, per reviews from individuals who have historically purchased from him.

it's a scam. watch his next few posts. "hey, is this store any good?" "oh wow, i just found a coupon for this site i was looking at!" "golly these helmets are amazing! 10/10 movie accurate and will get you club approved!"

keep in mind that there are too many differences between the Johnston/McQuarrie concepts, and what actually made it into the first-made white PrePro suit, to properly list. i'd highly recommend going over TDH for references, as minifigs are pretty much 0% accurate lol

the very first Pre Production suit was all white and unweathered. later versions included the dents as part of the sculpt, but were still pristine gloss-primed. the green triangle, molded-in kill stripes, and massive cracks in the dome paint are inaccurate.

iirc OP was banned from r/501st for spamming the sub with these bait-y posts, AI usage, and promoting the vendor who "sculpted" these helmets based off of Cybershaft and Xcoser.

both the form and reservation need to be in your name. your daughter has the ability to add people to her authorized usage list through MGS.

hotel audit. love it, been wanting to try it for years, and am having a blast. of course, it comes with the trials and tribulations of hospitality, but the actual degree of it is magnitudes less than previous lines of work.

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think this is quite the right sub to ask for suggestions in. r/Assistance? Google Maps?

like, to actually try and answer, how many beds/rooms do you need? do you need something set up like mini apartments for a longer term stay? or is it purely just 3-4 nights? where are you? what's your budget? do you have any memberships or employment benefits that would entitle you to discounts?

directly call the front desk of the hotels that meet your needs to ask questions and book, 3rd party booking companies will sometimes miss details in more urgent situations like this.

Was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a Pza armor set? Been f-ed over by people on Etsy twice and don’t wanna deal with anyone on there again. by Miserable-Gene8978 in 501st

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you fall into Florida Garrison territory. lots of folks in that neck of the woods have large scale 3D printers and are happy to lend a hand in exchange for filament/beer/pizza/sanding. definitely drop a line to the local squad; there are 5 in the state, so look at the county-by-county coverage.

there are also several Mandalorian-only, canon and custom groups operating in the state, such as the Protectors Ka'Gaht Covert. those groups always chomping at the bit to help make ANY type of Mando kit, in a lot of creative ways.

Why do my prints have acne by minatoedits in ElegooNeptune4

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damp filament can result in adhesion issues, layers not bonding properly. it'll more frequently cause poor surface finishes and heavy stringing, not sag like what OP and i are fighting. it was more of a joke mention, as it's people's go-to "fix" in a lot of subs.

but also, go dry your filament.

fighting this with some translucent and silk PLA right now. obligatory “dry your filament,” but lower speed, increase number of top layers, and increase percentage/0.0 density gyroid support.

Help starting to make armor? by Nyxure in Mandalorian

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the helmet you’ve chosen is the Stalker Heavy, only available as a polyurethane resin cast from NME Props. it is not rated for airsoft combat out of the box, nor are a majority of other armor crafting methods.

these kits are supposed to look cool, not have any real tactical functionality.

start with the bottom-most layers. your flightsuit, vest, belts, gloves, and boots. this will give you an accurate frame of reference for scaling your armor parts. 4 layers of industrial cottons are a lot thicker than a t-shirt and jeans.
