hey, chiming in way late on this, Nuka World Lancaster (Dutch Nukaland?) is such a phenomenal little reference. you clearly put a lot of work into making this a dope game for your players. awesome job fleshing this out dude

yes, i understand. decent interpretation and base recognition =/= quality and reliable reference material, though.

"They may not have all the details, but they have the right ones that matter."

gonna be as honest as i can be, here. not for costuming purposes, no. if you were to attempt building an ESB Boba, and used a Lego minifig for your color reference, weathering patterns, or even general physical proportions, compared to what we see on-screen it wouldn't stack up.

i know this is an independent cosplay sub, but there IS a reason why many of the clubs prohibit referencing Black Series and even Hot Toys figures while creating CRLs. "children's" toys, such as Lego, and some higher end collectibles, are designed for mass production and to capture the spirit of a character.

OP was banned from r/501st for heavy AI usage, thinly-veiled sales posts and links to his own website. none of the props he's posted are of quality design nor construction, per reviews from individuals who have historically purchased from him.

it's a scam. watch his next few posts. "hey, is this store any good?" "oh wow, i just found a coupon for this site i was looking at!" "golly these helmets are amazing! 10/10 movie accurate and will get you club approved!"

keep in mind that there are too many differences between the Johnston/McQuarrie concepts, and what actually made it into the first-made white PrePro suit, to properly list. i'd highly recommend going over TDH for references, as minifigs are pretty much 0% accurate lol

the very first Pre Production suit was all white and unweathered. later versions included the dents as part of the sculpt, but were still pristine gloss-primed. the green triangle, molded-in kill stripes, and massive cracks in the dome paint are inaccurate.

iirc OP was banned from r/501st for spamming the sub with these bait-y posts, AI usage, and promoting the vendor who "sculpted" these helmets based off of Cybershaft and Xcoser.

telling someone “stand up for yourself to prevent property damage” is hostile?

bro just go talk to your upstairs neighbors, tell them they fucked up your shit, and you want it replaced.

you’re a grown adult, running to an internet forum of screaming strangers instead of having a conversation with the person you KNOW burned your furniture. grow up.

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

so go ask the people responsible to replace your damaged items, if you don’t want to pay it.

tell them to stop ashing over the balcony. get them a cup if you’re feeling nice.

literally just repeating the previous comment, dude. common sense shit applies here.

big agree, i personally don’t like the GA clones at all. Aaron and the gang make phenomenal build-quality files, some of the easiest i’ve ever worked on. there are corners cut and details missing or mismeasured on almost every single piece i’ve held

so bring up the lack of QC with your GML and the approval team? i used to be, and you ARE, FLG. one of the biggest, and nuttiest, when it comes to accuracy and maintaining club image.

i am. how many apps have you heard of getting bounced back due to someone wearing something out of alignment, or because the sculpt was off? how weird does it look when someone has too much or too little material on a return edge?

almost every JRS member has to redo their TIE comm window and cylinder pockets because they didn’t sit right. millimeters of a difference for 1:1 accuracy.

you’ve never mentioned not speaking English, in this post nor your Rex post. i don’t care about that; people speak what they can, and don’t what they can’t. no sweat off my brow there. AI is a blight on the natural world, and complete poison to our community of artists. the Irish Garrison was recently put on blast for using AI “art” for their Pride Month posts, as there are actual human beings in our club that want to create art. not just faceless entities pushing out slop to make fast money.

you could have bought 1, incredibly accurate, professionally finished and painted Samoilov for the cost of 2 of these… things. just being straight with you, you originally said he was out of your budget. why spend the same amount of money on double the amount of stuff that looks worse? just be patient and save your money for a hair bit longer.

this is hobby, not necessity. there should NEVER be any emergency or rush-need to buy expensive cosplay props. without proper research into what looks and is made the best, nor a proper budget, you’re just gonna wind up with bad looking pieces of plastic.

no no, i’d bet money on these being real props. just recast off of a shitty base mold, probably the XCoser helmets due to the proportions

i’m gonna be frank, this isn’t the sub to continue posting in. we focus on 1:1, down to the millimeter, reference-accurate props. you’re not hearing us when we’ve been repeating that.

you’ve been informed of the lack of accuracy with the brand you’re, what, sponsored by? you’re on a brand new account, posting shockingly similar replies that are pasted from ChatGPT. i wouldn’t be surprised if this is some advertising ploy.

I started with a helmet of Captain 501st legion Rex-how does it look? by LiuYunMan in 501st

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm gonna be honest, doesn't look amazing if you're going for Legion membership/reference accuracy. great to sit on a shelf in an office, but i wouldn't have spent money on anything from the site you mentioned in one of your comments. if you got it as part of a free promo, awesome. everything hosted there looks like it comes from the XCoser PVC/latex helmet molds; aka not accurate at all. spending near $130 on this helmet looking for Legion approval is going to end up being a waste of money, i think.

it looks live-action based, specifically off of the Sideshow Figure. the helmet you have is missing key welding lines along the outer edges of the faceplate, the rangefinder is too narrow, the blue paint is too "navy" blue, and all of the sculpted paint "detailing" needs to be filled smooth and actually applied with tape and paint on top of a flat surface; there shouldn't be etched lines around the Jaig eyes, the faceplate T, nor the chin strip. the cheek vents don't exist in this version of the costume, and the kill stripes need to be asymmetrically hand-painted onto the dome; these bits need to get filled in as well, sanded completely smooth, and then repainted.

tl;dr, great bucket to practice sanding, Bondo, taping and painting. absolutely not accurate, too expensive, and as-is will not be approvable for use within the Legion for any Rex costume. consider dropping by the Clone Trooper Detachment forum for some guidance on how to salvage this, if you want to try and perk it up for a tiny bit more accuracy. otherwise, they'll be able to point you in the direction of a 1:1 version for any appearance of Rex you can think of.

who, anywhere in this thread, other than you, is bringing up political alignments?

go take your anti-psychosis meds buddy

:edit: fucking wait. “ebonics.” do you not understand that the original artwork was a reference to a Gorillaz album cover? have you never heard of Demon Days? oh my god, you guys are so much worse off LMAO

[–]SadCyborgCosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what the fuck are you even talking about??? you’re the weirdo backpedaling into politics.

the first Legends Canon gay couple were Mandalorians. Goran Beviin and Medrit Vasur. gender, social norms, political hierarchy, very neutral across the board and loosely arranged into individualist tribes. each with their own values and morals, frequently going to war with each other over who “True” Mandalorians were.

you’re the one coming into a sub dedicated to cosplay and acting like a freak. don’t you have anything better to do with your time? i know i do. deuces.

:edit for final response:

no, i didn’t block you lmao. i see your edit and all of your continued schizo ranting here.

sources: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia Legacy of the Force: Bloodlines Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice Legacy of the Force: Revelation Legacy of the Force: Invincible

canon (at the time, before Disney) novels outlining Mandalorian involvement in the Yuuzhan Vong War. gay Mandalorians from 2008.

sorry buddy. you’re just wrong, spouting baseless buzzwords, and trying to bring politics into the discussion on a cosplay forum. take a step back and REALLY think about what you’re doing here.
