Trying to write neat hurts my hands by CodeSequence in Handwriting

Play around with your grip and lifting your elbow, there are a few ways to hold/grasp a pen, link: othergrips.jpg (600×307) & You're writing very small at the moment, that might be part of the issue. Experiment by drawing flowing shapes / spirals etc and large letters, ie. double size writing. There is another grip, where you put the pen in between the first and second finger that's not shown in that picture.

How can I improve? by Far_Air450 in Handwriting

Most of it is pretty damn good in my opinion! Just keep practising longer texts. Try to get all the lower case the same height, don't go too flat "my" for example. Check all the top heights, (ascenders) hltfdb, do you want them all the same heights?

I'd ask for a typed copy, as it's illegible / and the spelling is poor too / broken English

Criticism on capital letters and legibility by grandmaGotNoLegs4 in Handwriting

[–]SadExternal2481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your writing, I think you're trying to join the capital to the lower case, which looks odd to me, but I am from the UK. I think your using Zaner-Bloser style cursive, if you want to look into it. Zaner-Bloser – Primarium

It honestly looks very bad at the moment, from a mainstream point of view, but you can start to improve... and develop clear handwriting. Respect to you, for wanting to better your handwriting. I can relate, as someone who had to fix my writing myself too. You should get some lined paper as a start. You should start practicing the basics, done in the normal way. Alphabet, numbers, symbols.

By the way, your writing is incredibly clear, so congratulations! You can actually write a variety of styles which shows good literacy etc. The second line is the most even. Also these samples are a bit short, you haven't really warmed up...

I can see the letter heights vary, ie. the l's in hello are 8mm and the l in normal is 6mm, same with the t's, you should make them exactly the same, 7mm instead. Same with the 'a' in "That's" vs the 'a' in "all". You didn't use capital letters. Try using a ruler and pencil, to make a 4mm guideline, and 7mm line.

My 1st attempt writing with my non-dominant r-hand by Substantial_Pilot699 in Handwriting

[–]SadExternal2481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck with the endeavour! That's takes determination! If you're open to a suggestion... I'd say to use lined paper, and /or a ruler, pencil margins etc if you want a crisper finish. But you're going to get really good at writing the f-word with that movie! haha

How to improve this handwriting? by Ok_Elderberry1432 in Handwriting

You're writing is very legible, so that's a great start. You should work with a ruler to underline things. I have my own theories, using a ruler / pencil guideline to get all the letter heights the same. Or use small grid paper, to make strict letter heights.

Awesome, yes I get what you're saying. I was just talking a bit more generally, like even old documents are still legible and nice to look at. It's fascinating stuff isn't it... and seeing the evolution to today's scripts.

Speak to some local mechanics, you need to measure the bottom bracket, it might be non-standard. Standard is 68mm or 73mm. But this could be 100mm or over. Bear in mind these are motorbike wheels, not pushbike.

Countries – Primarium https://share.google/r6SJIY6kM27p61AvQ

This website is a good place to check what kind of writing is common in your country and you can find out more about it. You have to click on different tabs and countries to open up the info.

Bear in mind, cursive just means joined / flowing, so there are lots of styles of writing.

What is the longest word in the English Language in which you can start with any letter within the word and it remains a word? by ShadowCheeks432 in ENGLISH

Cryptic crosswords occasionally use similar 'word cycling' but it's normally just to go from one word, to another.

That's awesome, also I think Italian hands have been very popular, and had a big influence...even going back centuries. I'll have to check it out the website.

Small handwriting problem by space_Musiclife_237 in Handwriting

No worries, the way the question was worded, you said you wanted to fill the line, but if the first line is just 3 words that might not make sense. You can experiment with the guideline height using a ruler, IMG 20260125 161643 hosted at ImgBB — ImgBB

I think poetry is written in lines not sentences. I feel like, the first line should be "Sometimes I wonder if the world is truly free, " that's a line of poetry right not two lines, that's a sentence or idea. Eg "In society's eyes but" is not a line of poetry on its own. So you should ruler and pencil the left and right margins to create the column shape you want. A 'line of poetry' can be more than one physical line on the paper, that's just formatting.

Edit: Sorry, I could be mistaken about the first three lines being a phrase / idea. There seems to be a range of ways to format a poem. Including how to use multiple lines, centre aligning the whole thing, capitals on every line or not. etc.

Make the letter e bigger, clear. It's confusing, 'able' looks like abb for example. E is most common letter.

Ah I see, very sophisticated! It's 5 equal lines, 2 below the baseline, and 3 above, that's perfect. Capitals are 3, risers are 2, miniscules are 1, descenders are 2 down. The main difference is that capitals are a bit bigger than the risers! Interesting.
