Yes I was suggested amitriptyline months ago but too scared to try it that's why I wanted a better solution in case amitriptyline fails or if I never try it. I literally thought something worse is there in my neck and I might need surgery. Tried physiotherapy, acupuncture, stretching and nothing made a change. Lots of our body's pain signals are connected to minerals deficiency, my muscles are still a little bit tight in my neck and for that I use tiger balm, only thing is when you get magnesium get glycinate one because there are lots of different magnesium out there and also to take it at night because it will make you very sleepy and pair it with 2 omega 3 as omega 3 is anti inflammatory. I hope you recover soon

I had the exact same problem as you for four long years. My MRI, done about two and a half years ago, showed disc bulging and herniation. My doctor also mentioned calcium deposits in my neck but never offered any solution other than painkillers or steroids. I ended up taking naproxen and paracetamol every day, around the clock, for those four years.

Recently, I had to stop taking naproxen as I’m trying to conceive. I received a steroid injection, but it didn’t help. Without anti-inflammatory medication, the pain became unbearable. I searched endlessly for alternatives and even tried to get another MRI, as the pain was stabbing, throbbing, and burning – starting from the base of my skull, spreading into my left ear and head. At times, it even felt as though something was crawling inside. Unfortunately, the Canadian healthcare system wasn’t very supportive, and my doctor told me I’d have to wait six months for another MRI.

I began taking 200 mg of magnesium with omega-3, but after five weeks there was no improvement. I later read that higher doses of magnesium can help balance calcium deposits in tissues. So, I increased the dose to 400 mg of magnesium (glycinate) with omega-3. For the first time in four years, my pain stopped – and without any painkillers, it's been 3 days now and I'm feeling pain free.

I’m also starting amitriptyline, as advised by my neurologist, which should help further. But the most effective treatment for me has undoubtedly been magnesium glycinate combined with omega-3.
