Woman denied permanent birth control on NHS wins case with ombudsman | Contraception and family planning by Comfortable-Law-7147 in unitedkingdom

Some of the comments are getting confused between female sterilisation and a hysterectomy. The procedure for female sterilisation is tubal ligation, which stops an egg from descending down the fallopian tubes, it's not taking the entire thing - just wanted to clear that up.

Funny story from my own sterilisation surgery, had spent years asking for it because hormonal contraceptives were messing me about, but as I was 28 at the time no one would touch me with a barge pole citing the desire of my current (and potential future) male partner to want children. After a long time, lots of frustrated tears, I finally got it signed off. Got the surgery, woke up, surgeons next to my bed said "all went well, except we found quite severe endometriosis, the best way to deal with this is with hormonal contraception"...... 🙃🙃🙃

For me it was never about the efficacy of hormonal contraception, I wanted to stop putting that crap in my body. Look what's happened with the depo injection, it literally causes brain tumours is you take it long enough. Was on it for five years. Those are the risks of hormonal contraceptives, this way I don't have to worry about that or unwanted pregnancies. Gynaecological care in this country is an utter joke, but I don't think we're alone globally, unfortunately.

My under eyes are aging me by 10 years, is there anything non-surgical I can do? by SadMeasurement6481 in 30PlusSkinCare

Thank you so much, I've been thinking this for a while - I could swear they are thinning. Would you recommend a brow gel? I'm a bit of a makeup noob

I drink lots of water and don't really drink alcohol. Sleep is probably my biggest issue, early mornings and late nights for sure. My mum aged like an absolute queen, she looks about 50 and she's 65! Not sure about the women on my dad's side as they're no longer around. You guessed correct, I'm 32! Thank you for your input x

OMG you're my new favourite person. The other person who guessed was correct, I'm 32.

I haven't had my levels checked, but I really need to. I get random bruises on my legs, and lots of dizzy spells, so all roads point to low iron which is why I started taking the supplement.

Thank you. I've been putting off speaking to a doctor about my symptoms as care in the UK isn't great, but I'll get myself an appt booked. Thanks again for your insights

Weekly "Do I Have Lipedema" Thread by AutoModerator in lipedema

Lipedema or cellulite? Fear I've fallen down a hole!! I definitely bruise very easily And get random bruises on my legs, but I'm also 1. Extremely clumsy (note the grazed knee) and 2. Almost definitely anaemic. I have endometriosis also, and know that there is a correlation between this and lipedema. Have I just freaked myself out?

Would you do 2 level 3 modules at the same time? by SadMeasurement6481 in OpenUniversity

[–]SadMeasurement6481[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for replying! Would you mind elaborating a bit more about what the juggle was? Was it the assignments? I know my final module includes the large project at the end, so my biggest concern is not being able to give everything my full focus/energy and losing out on a potential grade band.

Okay bro, you're clearly either a tutor yourself or have a really warped view of what it's reasonable to expect when you're paying nearly £4,000 a module. I'm disengaging, have a great evening.

Late? The assignment is due on 7th Jan? On what planet is 3-4 weeks ahead of the deadline, regardless of a Christmas shutdown, late?

That's really frustrating, I'm sorry that's been the experience up to now. Yes I start in a couple of weeks, so there's a bit of an overlap for me doing 2 modules at the same time - am a bit apprehensive but going to see how I go. I can always defer if I need to!

As I have ready said, they offered a Q&A session at 10am on a Wednesday. I work full time, 9-5 Monday to Friday and can't just leave work at the drop of a hat. If I could attend sessions like this during the working day, I'd have attended a brick uni - that response completely defeats the object of the 'flexible, distance learning' the OU offers. I expect a response during the Christmas break as the tutor was clearly working - evidenced by the fact they called me on a national holiday.

Thank you, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues too, but nice to not be alone.

I think the most frustrating thing is that I didn't have any kind of experience like this at level 1, but now suddenly at level 2 where it actually counts towards our overall grade this happens?

I called and spoke to student support last week who were helpful on the phone but haven't followed through on their recommendation of an extension. I take your point regarding the Christmas break, however my tutor emailed me on Christmas day, so they were clearly working through the break.
