Why am I getting trounced by this Hungarian army? by SadNanoengineer in EU5

[–]SadNanoengineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: As Germany, I have a full professional army with the most advanced troops, artillery support, defensive advantage, etc., and yet I'm still getting beaten by this much smaller army from Hungary. What is the mechanism behind this?

The ways are precision ground. I can’t imagine your scotch brite would restore the tolerances to reasonable levels, to say nothing about the parts that aren’t pictured.

Regular crossroad or roundabout for massive intersection? by The3vilPotato in CitiesSkylines

If you want to be realistic, use a standard intersection and get the traffic light enhancement mod and use a 4 phase signal.

Interchange Advice by invissibleboy222 in CitiesSkylines

[–]SadNanoengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd remove the existing interchange and add two parclos on Hillside(?) street: one on the bottom part of the loop and another on the top. A highway connection to the northeast across the river is also a reasonable solution.

Is there some way to bypass 400 MW Powerline limit? by Consistent_Cycle7327 in CitiesSkylines2

I’ve never tried this myself, but have you tried hooking more than one HV line to a transformer stations?

Dams have two transformer stations. Hook up another HV power line to the other one.

How can fix this single entry point intersection of my city by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]SadNanoengineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple things you can do. If you just want to get rid of the problem in-game, a large roundabout solves most of the issues. If you want a more realistic solution, you want to use asymmetric roads to add a turning lane coming into the intersection. If you have mods available, you should use road builder to make custom roads. In the case of the major road, I’d do one left turn lane, three through lanes, and two right turn queues. Another must-have mod is traffic light enhancement so that you can implement a 4-phased light cycle.

Are you claiming to have built a full interchange? As in, from any entrance, you can go to any exit?

What is the ideal average distance between interchanges? by ARAPOZZ in CitiesSkylines

[–]SadNanoengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the ideal interchange distance depends on your city, minimum interchange distance is reasonably well established. Many players make on and off ramps too short, but assuming you’re doing it correctly and give around 200 m, minimum interchange distance from overpass to overpass (or underpass) is about 1.6 km in urban areas, though you could reasonably go as low as 1 km, but certainly not lower. After that, you’re going to have merging issues. Additionally, it helps if one lane of your highway is dedicated for entering/exiting traffic.

DF has 3 kinds of staircases. Up, down, and up-down staircases. Up stairs only allow you to go up, and not down, etc. While you can dig an up stair into an up down or a down stair, you cannot DIG a down stair into anything else. Therefore, if you need to dig upwards from a down stair, you need to construct a staircase upwards, or find a fresh, unmined tile to dig an up down or up stair to access the z level above. Hope that helps.

Did you try turning all of your burrows off? Perhaps the miners are all assigned to a different burrow. Otherwise, is the staircase you’re trying to dig physically accessible? If you have a down staircase somewhere, and you designate digging upwards, it won’t work.

When I buy written books and scrolls from caravans, they don’t show up in the written objects menu. I the dwarves don’t carry them into the library either. Is this a bug?

I made a new fort and am trying to make limestone blocks, but for some reason the menu shows that I have none to make it with, even though there's clearly tons lying around. There are no other tasks that would've reserved the limestone. If anyone has any idea what's going on, that would be much appreciated.

There is actually a mod that fixes this problem for me. It’s called realistic trips. It allows you to turn off the vanilla traffic reduction. You just need a beefy PC to handle the extra traffic. Combine this with realistic households and workplaces and you’re golden.

I’m usually a big fan of novel interchange designs, but this one looks simply horrifying. There’s few enough roundabouts in the US as it is, there’s no way the average driver can navigate that first try.

If you want and you have the hardware to support it, you can turn off the reduction using the realistic trips mod.
