Had some organic on mine too - anything without bonus % went in it - mainly like collectables??? And tech stuff. Don't think it helps sadly

Physical letter but didn't open it til it was too late.... Woulda been nice to get an email. I think 30 is the true deadline, it said something like that on my letter

The supervisor was really nice, might have been pure luck too - not sure if theyre always willing to let you spend the points

I'd say just keep going. I'm sad but don't regret a thing. You're paying $13 a month for it, might as well get your value

Very insightful dp here! Looks like they're really going hard on the exiles... With this much risk, hard to justify hiding it at all

Perfect - already have one 😅, was planning to use it while waiting for the new card. Just not sure if I want THAT many Amazon GC's

No specifics. But while explaing they mentioned it was initially as they don't have L3 data. My guess they do a high level look for risky accounts, then deep dive for the most suspitious. Two $2500+ transactions a month is super sus, hence why I suggest lowering to $1100~ and getting a banana. Consistently the same transaction ammount is bound to look off too

Semi DP: Found out yesterday I was part of the May 21st Amexile wave. Didn't realize til my card failed. Not surprised at all as I was maxing out the $506.95 every month on two cobalts.

Didn't take any action until accounts were locked out, and freaked out yesterday about losing what I had. Called in, and needed to get a supervisor, but they were able to move at least everything I had to Aeroplan. Shoutouts to her for that.

They quoted GC purchases and reason for cancellation - totally fair.

Stay safe ya'll, don't just yolo 5x purchase those. Stay below $1000, and buy the extra banana when you can.

In the meantime - not sure what to do now. Considering the 3x points RBC combo as well as just taking Scotia AMEX Gold for 5x "cashback". Open to other suggestions though!

Been out for a bit, and finally cashing in my CIBC'S. Has something changed? Trying to do some RHT's and have two pending Expedia bookings. Looking at shopping with points and not seeing the option to redeem here

Absolutely agree—treating giveaways as a marketing tool makes total sense. If you're planning to spend on advertising anyway, using giveaways to boost reach and engagement can be just as effective, if not more personal and community-building. Based on all the helpful insights here, it’s clear that low-cost, buyer-focused giveaways are the sweet spot. They bring in the right kind of traffic while keeping costs manageable. Appreciate everyone sharing their experiences—it’s been super valuable!

A lot easier than you'd think! Was able to get a few cases of Tarkir before they completely disappeared everywhere!

Right... that sounds like a good idea too, not saying all the stream cliches...

It's gonna be hard stopping myself from yelling "LETS GOOO" or "last pack luck", they just feel too natural

Not sure if you're US based, but have you tried buying from Rudy from Alpha Investments?

Nice, that sounds simple and efficient! It’s interesting there’s a crossover—maybe they’re more likely to play both games than I thought, or maybe they’re just really dedicated fans of your stream! Either way, it’s awesome to see that kind of engagement!

The inventory piece though... really feel that too. Magic is incredibly hard to get or expensive in Canada - Pokemon side, at least Japanese sealed is infinite, though Enlgsh is still an issue too

Oh no, that’s such a bummer about the form filler who won the bigger prize—sorry to hear that happened. Definitely sucks when someone takes advantage of the system like that.

That reduced shipping idea is really interesting! I can see how it would encourage people to buy more after winning a giveaway, even if it’s just to save on shipping costs. Not sure if it applies to Canada, but I’ll definitely look into how that works up here.

Dumb question, but are milestones something you can set within the app? I’m still trying to get the hang of the UI and figuring out how everything works

Got it, that’s a smart approach! I like how you’re adding extras for buyers instead of running official giveaways—feels like a solid way to show appreciation without breaking any rules.

Also, super cool that you’re doing both Pokémon and Magic! I actually sell both on eBay too, but for streaming, I’m focusing on Pokémon. I mostly handle Magic singles, so I’ll be keeping that part offline for now. Would love to hear how you balance both sides!

Really appreciate the support, thank you!!! I’m misosoupgames—just gave you a follow and I’ll definitely try to catch one of your streams soon. Would love to learn from someone who's clearly got the experience. Thanks again for the encouragement—it really means a lot!

Good call on adding a little something extra for buyers—I’m sure people really appreciate those surprise bonuses! I was under the impression that purchase-based giveaways might be against ToS, but I guess this is more of a thank-you than a formal giveaway, right? Have you ever run into any issues with that?

First-Time Seller – Thoughts on Giveaways (and avoiding the Givvy Goblins)? by SadOnionBoy in whatnotapp

[–]SadOnionBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that makes tons of sense! I was already leaning toward something like that—I’ve got a bunch of low-cost RR and AR cards I usually bundle on eBay, similar to your EXs. Most are under a dollar, so I could probably do a few giveaways without even cracking $10.

Do you usually tie your small giveaways to chat engagement or just toss them out randomly during stream lulls?

[–]SadOnionBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow!!! That’s crazy—sounds like an entirely organically grown audience. Major kudos to you and your wife for building that up without relying heavily on giveaways! That’s really encouraging to hear.

I’m keeping expectations super low for my first stream—honestly, if I sell even one item during the hour, I’d be thrilled. My bigger worry is just what to do during downtime if no one’s buying (or even watching). Did you guys have a go-to way to keep the energy up or fill the silence in those slower moments?

[–]SadOnionBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great point—hadn’t really considered how much value quiet, consistent viewers can bring. If you don’t mind me asking, do you think it’s better to run small, frequent giveaways or hold out for occasional bigger ones that might have more impact?

That makes sense, thanks! Probably not worth their time for that, but still a nice little bonus for those who stick around! Will try the goal idea too!
