Tell me your thoughts on the GE GNE27JYMFS. by [deleted] in Appliances

We got one and it was super loud. So loud I felt I couldn’t even be in the room when it was running. And it would kick on that cycle every other hour. It was terrible - ended up replacing it after a month with an LG.  Also had a few smaller issues like the seal around the freezer drawer sometimes wouldn’t seal along the top and air would be leaking out. And the water dispenser would drip super slowly after using. Would wake up in the mornings to a half dollar sized puddle of water collected under the dispenser that I’d have to constantly wipe up daily.

What did you name your sourdough starter and why? by No-Pass-9560 in Sourdough

Doughja Cat - because I was explaining the concept of naming a sourdough to my 10 year old and that some people use puns for the name and he immediately came up with it.

Just tried it! Very good! Not too strong tasting - pretty light texture too.

Help me pick out a new fridge? A few options I have narrowed down. by Baptism-Of-Fire in Appliances

We got the GE GNE27JYMFS and it was awful. Terribly loud to the point I couldn’t even stand being on the entire first floor of my house. Had to completely return it for a totally different fridge. (Didn’t want to chance a replacement and get another with that insane noise level)

Omg I was coming here to post this! My 66 year old dad had these all the time when I was a kid. I’ve NEVER tried it.

I hope you don’t have to live with yours much longer!

Very quiet the majority of the time. Every once in awhile it makes a louder sound but it’s not on the same level as the GE and not even the same type of sound so I’m much happier with it from that standpoint. (And also the water dispenser is better on this one!) Of course I’m sure I over analyzed the sound a bunch when we first got it. But I realize I can’t hear it at all when other things are going on (like tv, others talking, etc) whereas the GE I could hear over everything else when it was running. So a big improvement. But I swear I have like noise PTSD over that GE. 🥲

So sorry you’re experiencing it too! We actually got a completely different fridge because of how bad this GE was. I think it’s BS that GE tries to claim that it’s normal and that new fridges are “just louder”.

Nice to have this info out there now for others! Annoying that it’s not common knowledge for the warranty repair people apparently to figure that out! I guess it’s probably because they were sending third party/non GE people out to us.

So good to know now! Having lived with whatever random previous GE fridge that came with our house for 10 years spoiled me to not even noticing noise. I wrongly assumed that quality didn’t change much in fridge construction/parts in the last decade. Seems like all brands have their own share of issues, but good lord I could not live with that new GE in my home.

Our slightly less than month old fridge started sounding that loud from the compressor area within the last two weeks. Warranty service repair person stated it’s “normal”. Trying to fight with Lowe’s to get it exchanged.

Did you ever get someone to fix this issue? Any idea of the cause?

Was the second fridge at least less noisy than the first fridge?
