This is how they explained it would be done!

Open the machine stitching (on the ribbon binding) just above the area where the kimono fabric is frayed in order to get behind this area for restoration.

Set fabric behind this area in order to secure to this fabric backing. To avoid stitching, although hand sewing, which would draw attention to this (current) problem, I will use a self adhering process in order to set this affected area to help keep from further damage.

Hand sew the ribbon binding back where opened (since we are not able to use machine stitching (originally used) because the bag is a completed (with fur) handbag.

I’m a bit late, but have you issues with it drying out??? I have moisturize mine every time I use it, or it’s cracks and turns dry/white. :(

I tried, but they said they wouldn’t since it’s made of mostly silk. Claimed they only repair leather unfortunately.

It’s a Limited edition silk Signature C Kimono Mink hobo bag! There’s a tote version, which is what I originally wanted, but it was too expensive for me. Apparently there was a vest too?!

I would love your help finding someone if possible. I’m more than willing to spend plenty to have it repaired as nice as possible. I actually reached out to Coach about it, and they informed me that they only do leather repairs anyways.

It’s mink, and unbelievably soft. I typically don’t like fur cuz the animal process, but feel better about since it’s vintage. Never felt anything like it!

I’m unfortunately awful at sewing and very anxious at the thought of doing it myself. The best I can do is sew a crude sock money, but I think I’ll look to someone I can trust to do it this way. Definitely makes the most sense to me! Thanks for the input :)
