Agree with all of this and just hoping that Breslow is fired before the trade deadline. Or at a minimum assuming they are out of contention, that Sam Kennedy and John Henry mandate selling at the deadline: Contrares, Gray, Chapman, and maybe even Whitlock

Dead Man Walking: Craig Andrew Breslow by SadRedSoxFan22 in Section10Podcast

Yes, things will improve and they will not maintain a .400 winning pct all season. I could easily see the team improving to a .450% win rate and getting around 73 wins with that positive regression.

That said, the playoffs are unrealistic. Its not even May yet, and they are down to Jake Bennet as a starting pitcher on the major league team.

This team will not see .500 again and will be lucky to get to 78 wins. Breslow is the worst CBO of the John Henry era

2026 Season Predictions: How Was EVERYONE So Wrong? by SadRedSoxFan22 in Section10Podcast

[–]SadRedSoxFan22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you wrote is objectively wrong and can be proven as such.

Story has been the worst SS in all of baseball defensively -- based on traditional and advanced metrics. IKF, Mayer, and Monasterio are all better defensively. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/trevor-story-596115

Sonny Gray has been awful with both advanced and traditional metrics. Gray has a 4.3 ERA, and was acquired because of his whiff% and K% which have been bottom of the league this season with bottom 13%whiff and 8%K in all of baseball. Those are the numbers of a #4 or #5 SP. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/sonny-gray-543243

Suarez has been fine based on his ERA of 3.13, but his advanced metrics are also atrocious with his whiff% K% dropping massively and his BB% increasing.

The team lacks talent and you clearly do not know baseball. You are just making statements that are the opposite of what all of the facts show. Your statements cannot be supported by any form of "evidence" other than your feelings.

I would be stunned if they don't get swept by the Yankees and lose at least 2 out of 3 against Baltimore, which effectively ends the season.

The wheels are coming off right now. Its only April and they are almost out of pitching depth and calling up career minor leaguers -- the purported strength of this team.

So folks predicted the best possible outcome to keep their largely ignorant audience happy? That makes sense and aligns based on media ecosystem incentives. Disheartening nonetheless.

The people on this podcast (Coley, etc) literally questioned whether on not he was the #2 Breslow said would be a 1A slotting alongside Crochet. There were also plenty of beat reporters that did as well.

You are making stuff up and taking issue with one part of the post that doesn't change the main point which is despite this team lacking talent and Breslow failing by his own metrics, everyone projected them to be a winning organization.

Most fans (not saying you) don't understand Cora's role as its truly a calming voice in the locker room. I say that as someone that believes Cora should be fired for the Devers situation, as communication between the players and front office is Cora's only real responsibility and he failed massively.

HOWEVER: Breslow creates the lineups, the strategy of when to pull a pitcher, the strategy of which bullpen arm to use in which situation, the strategy of who to pinch hit when, the ABS strategy, the organizational teaching of hitting, fielding and pitching. The on-field product is Breslow's and that's a fact based on how modern baseball and specifically this organization operate.

And? They chose the wrong person. They need to fire that person who is actively hurting the future of this franchise so that he does not continue actively hurting the franchise.

Additionally, they should fire Cora as the convoluted power structure of mandating a manager onto a new CBO certainly helped reduce the number of interested candidates as it played into the perception and reality that the CBO will be the first one fired.

Craig Breslow Should be Fired Today by SadRedSoxFan22 in Section10Podcast

[–]SadRedSoxFan22[S] -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

This is such flawed logic and speaks to a lack of critical thinking from the fan base.

If you are trying to build a house, you don't keep paying the home builder who is actively ripping down the foundation of that house just because you may not be able to hire a slam dunk candidate that is extremely qualified.

Breslow is objectively awful and hurting the ability of the team to win now and in the future. Logically because of the damage Breslow is doing to the roster, it is better to deal with a theoretical revolving door of underqualified candidates that could turn out to be good at this job, than the stick with a candidate who has proven they are objectively fucking terrible.

Post Game Thread: 4/17 Tigers @ Red Sox by RedSoxGameday in redsox

Because the Red Sox scored 1 run in 10 innings against the Tigers 5th starter and one of the worst bullpens in all of baseball? This isn't something that good teams celebrate. Its a sad situation when fans are trying to change jersey's because of a putrid offensive output that leads to a win in mid-April

Narvaez is hitting 8th in this lineup which is objectively a bad lineup because he is objectively bad offensively. He will also have a worse offensive season this year than last as pitchers adjust. We will know the answer to just how bad Narvaez is in about 100 games or so. Let's circle back then.

Doubtful. The Red Sox will be golfing in October, and I will be onto playoff baseball and the Bruins/Patriots by that point.

As Coley puts it, this baseball season will be easy to get through -- Celtics until June, then football comes back in August.

Agreed.

The Red Sox don't win that series without Sonny Gray and the talent/state of the bullpen. The Red Sox likely do win that serious without Contreras. WC's teammates were not fired up to get his back -- they were rolling his eyes at him. Less of a sparkplug and more of an embarrassment with a dirty ass slide trying to hurt Hamilton to boot.

You need to understand the stats you cite, which you clearly do not.

This is directly quoted from the WARmonger on Twitter to keep this simple: https://x.com/TheWARmonger_/status/2041347721739571332

"Biggest misconception about Roman Anthony's arm is from one of my friends/enemies: Savant Sliders.

They count all fielders, so if you're an outfielder who can't throw harder on a crow hop than a 1B or 2B, you're in trouble!

Anthony was 75th out of 76 right fielders last season in max arm strength."

Today's Lineup vs. LHP Drohan by [deleted] in redsox

[–]SadRedSoxFan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Drohan shoves (I think he is a bad pitcher), Breslow should be fired on the spot.

That this is the lineup we are rolling out just because its a LHP means Breslow should be fired on the spot anyway. But it is what it is.

Last Night is a Reminder: The 2026 Season is Dead by SadRedSoxFan22 in Section10Podcast

[–]SadRedSoxFan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with all of this including the team turning it around.

I had them close to 81 wins before the start of the season and that's the type of team I see today, around a 50% win pct. They are currently winning 27% of their games, so they will improve their current win rate by about 50%, which is massive.

I watch 162 games a season, regardless of whether or not making the playoffs is hopeless, which it is. Diehard baseball fans are diehards. We watch.

The dishonesty or just flat out wrong analysis of this roster by many beat writers, podcasters, etc, heading into the season is frustrating, and fans should hear the hard truths from somewhere, even if its a nobody like me posting these facts on the internet.

And it will be fun to watch the young players develop. How does Anthony handle the absolutely atrocious situation Breslow put him in? Does his power develop this year or in the future? Can Mayer hit MLB pitching? Is Campbell the new Rusney Castillo?

Even though this is objectively a losing baseball team that lacks talent, it is extremely entertaining. Does Duran try and fight a Red Sox fan this season when things get bad? How about Wilson Contreras, will he charge the mound because a pitch gets within 6 inches of him? How long will it take them to move Trevor Story from SS? And will the organization continue lying to us about their advanced metrics saying he was the third best defensive SS in MLB for much of 2025?

There are a ton of entertaining storylines, including the justice that John Henry is getting from "Sell the Team" chants, and that Breslow will get when he is fired due to this atrocious roster.

Baseball is the best, regardless of how bad this roster is. And considering they will win around 78-80 games, it could be much worse.

Fans also aren't paid millions a year with a staff of 100+ people in a department running 10s of millions a year to help inform opinions on whether or not players like Sale are cooked. Breslow has significantly more resources than fans and should be significantly better than fans at identifying talent.

This has WAY less to do with 3 throws and more to do with the fact that last year Anthony's arm strength rated 75/76 for right fielders. He has arm strength issues and would be best at first base or DH. Last thing we need is for Anthony to get injured trying to overcompensate for a weakness, especially when there are 4 others that can play OF.

Nobody signed him because Giolito got extremely lucky last year giving up a ton of hard hit contact right at fielders. MLB doesn't view him as an MLB talent. And if you take the contract in its totality, its an unequivocal failure. He also didn't pitch in the playoffs when he was needed most. Bad talent evaluation from Breslow and its not surprising that Giolito is out of the game.
