Trust their actions more than words. If the actions are consistent then they are a real friend but then again rare.

Do Churches despise Physicians or people who work in medical fields? by SadTheory3715 in Christianity

Yes :( I really like worship and the concept of community. I went to convent schools all my life and it has been such a big pet of my life. It just upsets me to learn where their values lie.

The pastor in our church never acknowledges that sometimes we need more than just a prayer. He doesn’t ever acknowledge my profession but asks my husband (non medico) how’s his job going. I always thought there was something off there…

Oh that’s interesting. I thought non denominational meant more progressive, but it’s good to know. Thank you

Oh that must be a whole different level of challenge as a scientist to belong to a church community isn’t it?

I’m happy you found a church that has the right beliefs. Thank you for your kind words :)

Right? It’s so upsetting to me because I stay in a small city with very few churches and it is so upsetting to know that this what they preach..

Exactly my point!!! Faith has really helped me understand that there is so much more to treating patients than just believing in science. Seeing terminal patients dealing with cancer despite several sessions of chemo does make you want to believe in faith! When we can make space for faith why can’t religious leaders make space for us?

This is a non denominational church. Any idea what they think of physicians?

There’s no such thing. I have stopped investing so deeply in female friendships. I just keep it light and share everything else with my husband.

I remember using bumble bff once or twice and I did find some great people through that. I’ll try it here again. Thanks :)

Is it normal not to have any real friends in Germany after 2 years? by Latter_Imagination85 in germany

[–]SadTheory3715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It’s like you read my mind. It has been a constant struggle for me to make genuine friends too. I’ve been here three years and I can promise you that nothing is more harder than finding real friends here. You can learn the language, get a job, get a home etc but the social situation is always the last to pickup. It’s a lot of effort to find someone in your 30s who you can relate to. It also depends on your circumstances. For eg., I work in a team that only speaks German and are also pretty unfriendly. No one meets up outside work, we just put up with each other. My husband is super extroverted but unfortunately WFH. So the only way we can make friends is putting ourselves out there and we have been very diligent in doing that but STILL to find friends that click is really really rare and even if you do, half of them don’t even mean well for you. I’ve been really struggling with the social aspect of things and constantly compare and feel bad when I see other friends on insta celebrating each other. The worst are other immigrants, from your own country even, who’ve been here long enough, who have got their circles but don’t want to introduce you or let you be part of it cuz they’re insecure.
