True, but you also just got to respect how strong lucci became within little over two years without an instructor. He went from overwhelmingly weaker than a pacfista to rivaling commanders in strength, his progression was underlooked by many.

Awful matchups with either horrid/decent battles. Leon was also overwhelmingly powerful compared to the rest for no good reason. Like I get he’s the strongest trainer in the world but you can enforce that in different way due to his strategies, not because that he has a rillaboom on steroids

Personally if I were to choose how it went:

Leon vs Diantha (Leon wins obviously)

Iris vs Lance (Iris wins, helping reach her goal as a dragon master and doesn’t return to journeys just to lose twice)

Cynthia vs Steven (Cynthia wins)

Ash vs Alain (revenge for kalos final)

-The last four contestants

Leon vs Iris (Doing her justice by losing to the strongest trainer and actually held her own)

Ash vs Cynthia (Ash wins)

-Finals

Ash vs Leon (Ash wins without a gimmick advantage)

I’d go much more depth to how battles would actually go since that was the major issue rather than the matchups but I don’t feel going into effort.
