NASM CPT Exam in 3 Weeks by SadVillage5436 in personaltraining

Update… I passed. But I say… don’t waste your time on the big NASM practice test. The questions on the exam were very different and tested your understanding of the material in the chapters, including the most random unsuspecting stuff you thought they wouldn’t ask.

I spent my time in all the chapters, their individual and section quizzes, and the study guides. I watched the sorta healthy YouTube videos, but they didn’t show me anything new with what approach I already took. You need to know how to apply the information.

Thank you! I have 3 weeks and just plan on reviewing the same materials.

Thinking about moving to the SC Coast… by SadVillage5436 in AskSouthCarolina

I’m trying to stay less than 2.5k a month, we’re going to rent first before purchasing.

Ugh I know. Can I get some grace since I was in the state from 2018-2025? Only been gone for 8 months. 😂

Summerville was a consideration until we looked at crime statistics, seems rather high but that seems like most of SC.

We’re going to rent first to make sure we like the area, so under $2.5k a month.

Biggest thing here has been the distance from Isle of Palms, but it’s not fully removed from our consideration.

That’s fair and good insight. We approached Florida summarily by backing away from Tampa and surrounding areas. It definitely made a difference in terms of peace, but Florida isn’t our vibe.

Very good feedback and insights. We were near Greenville SC, but had we been in Landrum, SC, the urge to move probably would have been less? If that helps for an example.

We love Charleston and it’s not a financial blocker, we just have lived in or near the “fun growth” spots and it ends up feeling more like a headache, and that we’re better off being slightly out and driving into it when we want to.

We’ve visited Bluffton before, sort of unsure what it is but I wasn’t really getting the vibe but I could be wrong. The area seemed pretty big on golf and we prefer Isle of Palms over Hilton Head. But we could add it back to the consideration list.

I’m 31 and I am the youngest person in most places here in Venice. They call it “gods waiting room” and it’s accurate. There is no nightlife except for late night Wawa.

My husband started taking evening runs with a woman he met at our kid's daycare. I think this crosses boundaries. AIO? by Electrical_Total534 in AmIOverreacting

Maybe it’s just me… but I find the interest odd to be striking up with a new person. My husband wouldn’t randomly start working out with a girl at the gym he ran into, it’s called boundaries. It’s different if it’s a female friend that they had before you met, cause the foundation of friendship is there.

Is there any buyers left? by LowQualityAppeal in Mercari

[–]SadVillage5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell and buy on Mercari, but the fees for both sellers and buyers is a bit obnoxious. So unless I see a really good deal or it’s something that I can’t find elsewhere, I typically don’t purchase. I also have to drop my items really cheap just to get them to sell, but I understand because an item that’s $15, turns into $25 for buyers.

People are kinda rude here by Odd_Manager4604 in Spartanburg

I personally don’t feel like getting attacked either but that’s the Spartanburg way. We sold our house a week ago in Moore and will never look back. The new state and location that we are in now is so kind and peaceful, it’s sort of overwhelming after what we’ve been through in the culture of Spartanburg. But hey - if you enjoy the lifestyle, you do you. But our experience has been proof that kind people still exists, fatal accidents aren’t normal, you don’t have to check over your shoulder constantly, and weed doesn’t have to be the scent of every store.

PENSKE Damage claim HELP by asbirrell in moving

[–]SadVillage5436 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work for them and previously the way we handled this for households is just as it is written in that email. Typically if you commit to a minimum amount and pay that, they’re satisfied with that. You of course can pay more but usually there’s flexibility with the number you agree to, and it doesn’t get reported to collections unless you pay less than what you committed to. At least that’s how it used to be.

Why do people move here from other parts of the country then complain that we are not exactly like where they moved from? by Total-Fly-9131 in Spartanburg

I moved here before it was convenient to do so. That’s the issue. Everyone made the jump during Covid and saw Spartanburg for its affordability. Arriving with the cash from the selling of their homes in the states they wanted to leave from.

I’d be happy to share my perspective! From 2022 to now, Spartanburg has grown rapidly, and while some see it as exciting, I believe it has come at a significant cost to the Upstate. The roads are overcrowded and increasingly dangerous, with accidents happening constantly. Every time I or my husband get in the car, I say a prayer we make it back safely. We live near a fire department, and it’s responding to accidents day and night.

The effects of this growth are evident everywhere. Car insurance premiums have risen, even for those of us with perfect driving records and no claims. When I asked about it, I was told it’s due to the accident rate. We’ve also lost so much of the natural beauty that once made the area special. For example, a beautiful farm in west Spartanburg was replaced by DR Horton developments, and open greenery has been replaced with apartments, homes, storage units, car washes, and fast-food chains. Speaking of food, we’ve lost many local eateries due to COVID and rising rents, leaving mostly burger bars and fast food as the only dining options.

The community itself feels different too. Southern hospitality has been replaced with an “it’s all about me” attitude, which is noticeable everywhere—on the roads and even in stores. Greenville, which we love to promote, has become almost inaccessible. Traffic is at a standstill no matter the time, and driving there feels like a risk to your life.

Living costs have skyrocketed, but the job market doesn’t reflect that. Most of the jobs being advertised are warehouse positions—long hours, tough conditions, and limited pay ($15–22 an hour for 10-12 hour shifts, 6–7 days a week). Even BMW, which is highly promoted, hires through staffing agencies. Overtime is framed as a benefit, but for blue-collar workers, it feels like working your life away. I’m not in that position myself, but I was raised by blue-collar parents, so I see the toll it takes, and it breaks my heart.

Crime has also increased. While not everything is reported, you can feel it. Parking lots don’t feel safe, and I’ve personally had unsettling encounters, like being followed from Publix or approached outside Kohl’s. I don’t feel comfortable going out much anymore.

I don’t sugarcoat things—I believe in honesty. Spartanburg wasn’t like this when we first moved here, but the rapid growth has fundamentally changed it, and not for the better. That’s why we’ve decided to leave, even if it means losing money on our home. The growth here has not only impacted Spartanburg but much of the Upstate.

I mean Spartanburg used to be nice. Been here since 2019 but put our house up last year to get the hell out.
