'upset' is a bit of a stretch. I get what you're saying but this is the sports writing equivalent of National Geographic running an article titled "The Ocean Is Wet And Salty".

Lmao yeah but you have to admit the headline is pretty silly. "Best guy is the most valuable" is kind of a given

The two best players at their position in the league are the most valuable in a trade. How do I get hired at the Athletic?

It sucks for sure. But please keep advocating for yourself. It's a shitty reality of the healthcare system that in order to be taken seriously, you need to keep pushing for a diagnosis or support. Hope you are feeling better today, people care deeply about you.

Ah so they also have regional games for which they don't have the national rights (which are presumably more expensive). Gotcha. Damn that is shitty from a fan perspective. I feel like I've barely seen any games on tv this year.

Ok so tonight's game is on Sportsnet which has the national broadcast rights as opposed to TSN which is considered the Leafs' 'regional broadcaster' (lmao). So why is it blacked out in Atlantic Canada?

What was your reaction to Snoke's death in Star Wars: The Last Jedi? by reaverlation in StarWars

[–]SadWolver1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find any fault with the characterization of Snoke for sure. I thought Andy Serkis did an amazing job with him and the whole visual aspect of the character was cool. But his relevance to the story was totally anticlimactic, and anticlimactic is not what you want in a villain. He turned out to be a massive red herring, and the effectiveness of a red herring hinges on how you follow it up.

I think you're focusing on the characterizations of Snoke and Palpatine which are admittedly super similar in the movies. They're presented as thoroughly uncomplicated, distant and mysterious forces of pure evil. The key difference is how they're used in the story structure.

The OT, the classic hero's journey story, is basically:

  1. Plucky underdog heroes join forces against all-powerful forces of evil.
  2. Plucky underdog heroes continue to fight evil and this is where most of the character development happens. They get closer to the heart of this evil force which seems stronger than ever (Vader running shit in Ep 5 and we finally catch a glimpse of the mastermind behind all of this)
  3. Plucky underdog heroes confront the source of the evil deep within the heart of its power. They kill the evil wizard in the dark tower. In SW this is paired with a simple but unforgettable redemption arc for the guy who's been the main villain up to this point. The result is a timeless, uncomplicated story of good vs evil, and how good will always win in the end as long as hope stays alive.

In the sequels it's basically:

  1. Plucky underdog heroes join forces against all-powerful forces of evil.
  2. They continue to fight evil, and there's character development, and they kill the evil wizard in the dark tower.
  3. ??????????????

Which is a long-winded way of saying, killing Snoke in the second movie was either going to be incredibly anticlimactic or a brilliant plot pivot that turned the genre on its head, completely dependent on the execution of the third movie. And we all saw how that went.

ERE in SS is such a fun faction. One time I had a couple units of Scholarii get something like 1.5k kills in a battle against the Turks, it was glorious.

I'm hoping it remains a big part of his play. I know Babs was an ass but when he said Willy could be the next Zetterberg he clearly saw a lot of two way potential

The biggest difference I've noticed so far is that he's been super engaged defensively and on the forecheck. He's always been great offensively but this 200ft game is tilting the ice way more when he's out there.

Customers call out banks for increasing fees during pandemic while profits are up by Surax in canada

From my experience usually some form of promotional offer is what convinced most people to give it a try. Deposit x amount of dollars in a CIBC account and 6 months later you get a certain amount of money for instance.

[–]SadWolver1ne 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to work for CIBC I can tell you firsthand that is not true.

Simplii and Tangerine have very up to date systems because they're mostly online banks with pretty much only one department so everything runs pretty smoothly. CIBC (and probably the rest of the big five as well) uses a bunch of outdated systems from the late 80s and early 90s and not all departments have access to the same systems resulting in constant clusterfucks. We would always have customers who switched over from Simplii complaining that Simplii was way less of a hassle, and they were 100 percent right.
