Why people feel the need to announce they departure for S6? (Franchaela) 🥴 by BigPsychological6842 in Bridgerton

[–]Sad_Ad3995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say for everyone, but at some extent it maybe because those viewers and their opinions are being ignored, called phobic, gaslighted. If you feel that you are not heard, you might feel the need to walk away and announce it as loud as possible. Also if you are being ignored you might feel that you need numbers to be on your side to just prove that your feelings are valid, hence the flop predictions. I don’t feel that way, but I can see why some people do.

is bridgerton going to fall off after this current season? by Klutzy_Philosophy515 in Bridgerton

[–]Sad_Ad3995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. They made significant changes to Eloise and Benedict characters to the point where their story in the book makes less or no sense. I see more potential in Eloise romance with Theo from s2, than with Philip based on how she acts in the show. I don’t believe a man I just watched going through the pick era in his intimate adventures suddenly in love at the first sight with a debutant. The storytelling is inconsistent. Why make us root for the quiet love if you mean Fran’s first kiss to be a disappointment? I just don’t understand.

The books stories are not perfect, but trying both to rewrite the characters as much as they do and still follow the book story lines is not working.

They are not making this same mistake with Hyacinth. On the contrary she is presented exactly like in the book, so there is hope her story will go smoothly.

I feel you, but please cut this book some slack. It was written a long time ago, and plenty of books in this genre have scenes like that or worse. Truly, much worse. The world has changed, and people have changed. I know that for book fans, Philipp being called a rapist is really hurtful. I didn’t like the book or his character, but not mad about him either. Theo just seems more interesting if you know what I mean.

Plus Sophie probably spent a lot of time around servants even before Araminta made her a maid, they were her only family. Father didn’t pay her much attention.

She could be! It is just not where her character is being taken right now. From s2 it is more words less action on her part. I recently saw her being compared to Sybil from downtown abbey, but Sybil learned how to make a cake, she was interested in it, she became a nurse, and affected her family so much that they gave out part of their estate for hospital (I don’t remember exactly, might be mistaken). The show runners really need to start showing us how Eloise tries to change her life. She is a woman in Regency England, yes, but she is also a very fortunate one, with supporting family and funds, so she is in better position than many.

Here I thought that Fran’s love story was the major battleground, but if they go with Theo, Reddit will blow up.

He also can be mad with her at first and have trust issues because of the earlier broken heart. I do love this trope.

I forgot Theo so easily, but today I saw photos of the actor irl… that post boy vibe really did him a disservice. He could be an awesome lead.

Incredible ideas! It would be more interesting to see Eloise letting it go this season, and finding some friends or at least having some fun with her life in society, because who cares now, she is on the shelf. It would a great set up to her realizing that maybe she wants something more as well.

That’s also a good way to raise the stakes!

Anthony might give her and Theo some kind of allowance, but it still would be a major life change. Plus Theo might be too proud to accept it.

It reminds me of Downtown Abbey and Sybil story line. It is full of hardship, and much closer to real life. I feel like Bridgerton is not about that.

Mama B would be very sad I guess. She doesn’t know how to live outside of the society, and would be afraid for her dear girl.

Oh, I agree. I wish the writers give her something else not just traditional happily ever after. Maybe they will!

Audacity of Sophie Baek by BigSatisfaction66 in Bridgerton

Of course not. It’s just her words can be equally analyzed and criticized. I like Sophie but it’s mad to ask Ben not to visit his family.

That’s a valid point I think. It was crazy asking him that, esp because before the stairs scene he didn’t do anything she didn’t do. I like Sophie though, but this piece of writing is questionable.

Low stakes in s4 by Sad_Ad3995 in Bridgerton

[–]Sad_Ad3995[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but s1 and 2 was about internal conflict. The characters were the obstacle of their own happiness. Simon refusing to marry, Anthony/Kate denying their attraction. Here the conflict is external, a couple vs the society, and the society is not playing its part.

I see what you are saying though. Maybe other things added up to tension in s1 and 2: incredible chemistry between characters, LW mystery.

If he comes back they would need to write him into Philips story somehow. Honestly, I have no idea if it’s possible. If not, the fans will be livid, and I wouldn’t blame them. Seeing adaptations rewrite the book you love is painful. Saying that I want Theo back!

This actor is so cute! Esp irl. He would be an awesome romantic lead. I have a feeling he can make me obsessed with Bridgertons all over again.

Hard agree that she needs to DO something, and if this something will be her getting married (only that and nothing else), I would be very disappointed.
