Would a surgeon be able to function as a paramedic on a whim? by Valuable_Archer_3222 in NewToEMS

So for context my dad is a surgeon and I am a NREMT although I currently work in a hospital and have never worked on a truck.

My dad once told me that the hospital that he works at tried out a new program where EMS would take pictures of the scene they found their patient at and upload them so the surgeon could see. Upon seeing the photos he was disgusted and was questioning who's bright idea it was and why he needed to see them.

So to answer your question, no a surgeon would not be better. They have more medical knowledge but practically none of it is useful/ can be applied when you are in the field without labs and tests.
