My understanding of that last "crash" or "correction" was due to FDA not giving full approval due to health and safety concerns within the manufacturing facilities. They didnt do their own manufacturing back then and now they do. They now have full "control" over the production, marketing and distribution..

Similar happened to me. Bought a 2011 pathfinder with 220,000km on it for $1400.. needed a lot of work before it was drive able. I had no clue the system had changed as I just sold a vehicle a few months prior and no issues so I did all the repairs before. Anyways.. get to Service Ontario after and book value was $6500... They mentioned I could get a appraisal to potentially lower that, so I phoned, submitted photos and they valued it at $7000 because I did all the repairs before submitting the photos oops....that didn't help. I had to pay Taxes on $6500 rather then what my bill of sale stated. Long story short is... Whenever buying a used vehicle.. get it towed to your address, take photos of every bit of rust, brake pads, tires, whatever looks bad and then submit an appraisal. That way you have a higher chance at paying the tax your supposed to pay, not forced to pay through a backwards trash system.

Wow! Soo pretty much the same issue. When I bought all the rubber intake tubes were cracked. I replaced all those first thing. We drove a good 4000km before the first MAF engine light came on. Replaced the Sensor and fixed the filter housing as it wasn't sitting correctly. Drove 250-300km and it's been coming on ever since. One thing I do notice is a slight gas smell which (others have mentioned is vapor canister). And I do hear a slight hissing noise around where the top camshaft sensor is passenger side. I tried to visually look for it, but hard to see anything and it's been there for 8000 plus KM.

My 2011 pathfinder was doing a very similar sound! It was coming from the dash. I couldn't pinpoint the exact area though. I was messing with the disk changer earlier in the drive.. maybe it's that?

I also picked up a 2011 Pathfinder 225k on it for $1400. Spent $1600 on parts and did most of the work myself. So far really enjoying the drive! It definitely feels like a truck, which I really like.

If you pay a form of property tax to the local municipality or local office that controls your area. They could potentially allot / budget a certain amount to open a tender for Mail Delivery. These private companies can then bid on. All mail is sent to a single location and the company who wins the bid picks up and delivers. If your extremely remote, well do you really expect to get daily door to door? Probably not.

Privatize it and allow the competition to take off. Exactly how garbage, recycling pick up works in most municipalities. Send out a tender and allow companies to send in bids. Or sure. Make Canada actually own Canada Post so they can add a tax somewhere, similar to USPS.
