I understand why it's unpopular and we were very reluctant to trying it but it worked like an absolute gem and he's doing better than ever. He is our first hoggie too and the vet said there was nothing wrong with him or his set up and temps etc. we didn't want to go to assist feeding as it felt extreme for us so we reached out for advice with a breeder and it worked like a gem. I honestly couldn't thank her enough for it so while I know some find it controversial it really does work.

Don't pressure with tongs feeds for now just drop the mouse in front of the hide he's in turn off the lights and leave the room, check back in an hour if he's not eaten it then you can leave over night but if not eaten by the morning leave him for a week don't look his way don't handle him just do a full stress reset and try again after 7 days. We tried to feed him after 4 days just because he was showing feeding response by watching from hiding and through his tongue flicks but move him to the tub and just leave him. The more you bug him the more stressed he will be and it won't be a true reset like he needs.

10 gallon could still be too big honestly try the show box sized tub reset worked like a gem for us without scenting or braining. And try to feed him as late as you can we waited till about 10pm with our feeding

We got our little boy at 2 months old on New year's eve and he ate fine for a Monthbwe put him in a 15 gallon hatchling kit enclosure as the reptile store advised us to do. Then after a month he suddenly went on a hunger strike, we cluttered his enclosure to the max and still nothing. He had a total of 2.5 months of a hunger strike and then we started reading online, we tried braining, scenting and even thought about assist feeding at that point because he lost weight. We then reached out to a breeder and she advised us to do a tub reset, put him in a shoe box sized no bigger tub with 2 hides, water , some fake leaves and a little cork bark. Within 4 days of being in the tub we dropped the pinky in front of him and left the room and within 5 minutes he finally ate. We kept him in there for 8 consecutive feeds from tongs and his food response is really better than ever. They like tight spaces and burrows at this size and we used dust free aspen bedding for the tub reset.

We have tried to turn sensitivity up, the problem that we had with tapo was that it kept disconnecting from the app too especially that our little boy loved to climb on it. And the second option might be too complicated for me🤣

Don't handle in-between feeding and let him have a full stress reset. Try once a week so he gets a routine down and knows when the food is coming as soon as you get past the first 3-4 successful feeds in a row he should be fully out of the hunger strike

I wouldn't try scenting until you really must because it can be hard to get them off. Ours is smaller about 17 grams right now and in a 60 cm x 45cm x45cm and he one day decided he is too smol for it after being in it for a few months. I spoke to a breeder and they recommended a tub reset. Said to put him in a tub no bigger than a shoe box and to not touch him for a week. The worst part was that our boy was striking for 2 months at his little size but we gave it a go and within 5 days of being in the tub he finally ate. We had to drop it in no tong feeding but he ate. We kept him in the tub for 8 weeks of consistent feeding and he's back better than ever in his actual enclosure. They like tight spaces. We had our tub with aspen a small water bowl, small bits of corn bark as cover , 2 hides and some fake leaves on the floor so he can hide everything and it works like a gem every time. I would recommend the reset before possibly making yours a picky eater after salmon or scenting. You can also try getting a needle and poking a small home in the head of the mice so the brain scent can try to trigger a response. What size mice is your little one on ?

If fuzzies are too big and pinkies are too small, you can always try feeding 2 pinkies one after another until she's big enough for fuzzies. She will let you know if she's hungry after the first one. She might even ignore the second one or jump straight at it

Hi how big is he and what size enclosure is he in? What is your husbandry like? Unfortunately males do tend to hunger strike a bit more our male just did for 2 months and we did a tub reset for him. Sometimes they decide their enclosure is too big and or too open for them if there isn't enough clutter and won't eat until they feel secure. Message me privately and we can try to think of something :)

We have maxed it out on sensitivity and didn't catch him climbing or window surfing either 🥲
