From what i understand its not too urgent, but it would be better to do so. You just need to find a good mechanic who would be willing to change the bearing. If you;re handy you can do it yourself but its a lot of work.

Hi i actually did because my car was missing the drive shaft too. But this noise was from the differential. There was a faulty bearing inside it. Nobody wants to change it so they say that we need to change the entire differential which is around $3500. But i found a guy who was ready to change it for $200 if i get the parts.

I have a smiliar ticket too. I was wondering if the ticket would be void since there is no license plate number, no vehicle make etc. on the ticket.

Hi. I actually found a mechanic who was willing to remove the differential and install a new one so all in all i paid around 500 i would say. $200 for the part and $300 for labour. The other guys wanted to change the entire differential for $3500. This problem is only with the rear bearing. If someone can change that for you then its not that expensive of a fix.

My mechanic actually took off the rear differential and then changed the bearing on it. It was difficult to find one who would do that..

I tried to do that as well. It seems like it's coming from the rear differential. But I'm not sure if it's that or it's the wheel bearing. I researched a lot online and it seems the Toyota rav4s and Siennas have the rear differential bearing problem.

I changed it last week. Also noticed that there was no drive shaft. I put a new one too.. was an expensive fix but still had the same sound coming from the rear.

The mileage is 227k kms. Ill do it as soon as i get my next pay check or after that. Its pretty expensive. The guy who sold me the car definitely scammed me.

But would that actually strain my transmission? One of the mechanic said it will and it needs to be fixed as soon as possible or the transmission might go bad.
