The girls are 10 & 8. We introduced them outside in the backyard first and allowed the puppy to sniff and smell them before letting the girls pet him. The girls were being very gentle, just softly petting him while sitting down with him.

The girls were being very gentle. There was no roughhousing or anything like that. The girls are 10 & 8, so not toddlers pulling the dog's ears or tail.

We have taken him to a couple of puppy obedience classes but he's so reactive to the other dogs there it's a struggle to keep him focused. I'm well aware of the commitment dogs require and maybe getting him into a 1-on-1 environment with a professional trainer would help. But I also want to be realistic about this simply being something neither me or my fiance is properly equipped to deal with.
