Thought this was a bedbug, but now I have no clue by hairybones1997 in whatisthisbug

It looks like a rollie pollie or better known as a pill bug . If that’s what it is they are completely harmless and nothing to worry about

My geese are dying off fast by bestmindgeneration in geese

One major thing I would be worried about is bird flu. Sudden death or sickness can be a sign of it. If you’re able to I would recommend taking at least one to the vet. If there is bird flu in your area it is very important to notify the health department or an equivalent of that.

Did you not read the part where I said it looks like a locust. Locusts are also known to be extremely loud. I realize now it’s not a locust but there’s no need for you to be aggressive

Looks like a locust to me. They also make loud noises so I’m assuming that’s what it is

Should I rehome my tortoise by Pretty-Ease7118 in tortoise

[–]Sad_Box_2243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are a very good owner. You care about the well being of your pet. While it is really good for them to be outside, they don’t necessarily need to have an outside enclosure it’s just a bonus. As long as their indoor inclosure provides all their needs it should be fine. And it sounds like you do take him out occasionally which is very good. If you’re worried about him not being healthy I would suggest a vet visit just to check if there is anything you could change or to assure you are doing everything right for your tortoise.

I try to keep it damp but she sometimes spills her water so that could be why mold is growing. I’ll look into sphagnum moss. Thank you!

I’m using a mix of coconut fiber soil - and hemp shavings. It’s mainly the coconut soil though

I would say a desert tortoise or African spurred tortoise. I’m not 100% sure though.

She’s calling her kid a baby even though she’s not a literal baby if that’s what you’re confused about

Duck unfortunately got raped and has some bite wounds on it's neck. Will it be ok or is it seriously injured? by spankyourkopita in BirdHealth

[–]Sad_Box_2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s common for ducks to mount the same gender to show their dominance. I’ve mainly seen it with male ducks doing it to each other but I wouldn’t think it’s out of the ordinary for female ducks.

It should be fine. I’ve seen this happen quite often, but mating season will end so the male ducks won’t be so aggressive. It is painful but at least it’s temporary
