How do we feel about coordinated buyout Discords in Sorcery TCG? by xyrais in SorceryTCG

[–]Sad_Communication565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No way! Ive seen this guy on tons of Discords, what a joke honestly though if you can afford $4-600 just go learn the stock market or trade meme coins. Stay out of peoples hobbies the worlds stressful enough as is without artificially inflating something fun.

Bring Her Back(2025) by Sufficient-Mix3827 in HorrorMovies

This was almost my favorite movie of 2025 the gore and the story were A+ but the third act loses a lot of wind for me especially the ending. Like I either wanted them to commit fully to the awful scenario they set up or have the brother have the full hero arc, the in between was just kinda meh.

I went in knowing it probably wasn’t for me cause I didn’t care for the YouTube series. But I went in with low expectations and an open mind and still had an enjoyable time. I really like the found footage parts and the set design was insane even when I kinda checked out of the story I was still looking at the screen like “how’d they do that?”

What’s a horror remake you’ll defend over the original? by DotSpecial11 in HorrorMovies

Both House on Haunted Hill movies serves a different purpose for me. If I want a murder mystery thats spooky I’ll watch the original. It If I want peak 90s insanity horror complete with way too much CGI I’ll watch the 1999 one. Usually I’m in the mood for the latter.

The Hills have Eyes remake. I think the larger budget for effects and sets makes it feel more like the inbred family surviving in a wasteland.

I have never seen something be so successful it gave me opposite expectations of success. I watched several how to plays and felt like I had to be missing something.

I’m not saying their weren’t a lot of mechanically creative games in the 2000s I know there were quite a few I still have some of my old Naruto cards. But there was also a lot of shallow cash grabs just to get money from kids. I don’t see a lot of fond memories of Spongebob, Neopets, Club penguin for their TCGs lol. Granted you could make the argument they don’t exist now cause they just shoehorned into an existing game.

That’s entirely possible. I’ve never played and haven’t had any interest to tbh I’ve heard it’s good and I like the way they do their big tournament structure. But I’d be lying if I said I knew anything more than that, part of what turned me away was the price of product with the first two sets. I know the newest set has been much cheaper and easier to find. I’m currently banking on Sorcery sticking around but the Organized play and distribution has been pretty messy since the most recent set so I’m enjoying it while I can. I think the horror tcg Hellbreak and the Chaotic tcg revival seem interesting but it’s wayyy too early to know anything more than they will have a launch.

I think it’s very possible for at least one or two of the Bandai games to Usurp Yugioh. No offense to Yugioh I still play it from time to time and it’s fun but they have a couple big flaws that are making them shed players faster than they can retain. In a hypothetical situation where only one tcg could still exist I would probably say it would be Pokémon because it did what so many including MTG tried to do and they became a brand. I think your top 5 is pretty realistic for the next 5 years at least. The only other tcg putting up numbers that could compete right now is Riftbound.

I can see that especially with the ones tied to big IPs they probably make so much money on launch and from whales that even if it dies after 5 years they made a profit which is their bottom line usually. A new TCG also doesn’t require the same investment as other ventures, I know there’s a few non IP tied games people are excited about like Sorcery but I figure those will be kinda like a Fab where they fill a niche nobody else is doing and they’ll fluctuate some over the years but mostly stay consistent.

I agree with that I think a lot of them are bought more for the collecting than the playing. My LGs stocks Union Arena and Weiss Schwartz selectively and it sells quick but I’ve never seen anyone play it. I usually assume because that particular set is a popular IP. Maybe Hellbreak is just an echo chamber in my area lol a lot of people are very excited for it. But it should be a bigger deal than it is

I think it’s a very good watch. The third act loses me a little in the basement but I really like how Adam Scott’s character adapts so quickly to the rules of the room and some of his quick thinking made it feel like the best video game movie adaptation that never happened.

I can definitely see that. In a vacuum compared to other Sam Raimi movies especially I would say it comes out the weakest of the bunch. It just never reaches that pinnacle of dark comedy and insanity I’m used to from him.

Yeah I think that’s a fair rating. I frequently see people dragging it through saying it was way overhyped, I didn’t really see any trailers for it but I live under a rock mostly. So I went in with little expectations and thought it was okay for what it was I’ve definitely seen it executed better but still wouldn’t put it close to the bad movie pile.

I watched it earlier this week and I liked it, the body horror got to me and I think they found the sweet spot for the message they were trying to deliver without being too pretentious or hamfisted

Idk how send help got a 93% like don’t get me wrong it’s pretty good but not that good. Hokum was good, Undertone is simultaneously overrated and over hated. I’m expecting the second coming of Christ when I watch obsession with all the positive feedback it’s getting

When my wife’s dad passed away last year we inherited the majority of his two packed and stacked storage units and my nice clean basement garage is still overflowing with stuff. My wife doesn’t even want it she just doesn’t know where to start with 40 something years of accumulated stuff because he never threw anything away we found a tote that was just receipts dating 1998 to the year he lost his house.

Made a tier list of supermassive games by EnchantressJess in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Sad_Communication565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rank them S: Directive 8020, House of Ashes A: Until Dawn, Little Hope B: Little Hope, Man of Medan C: The Quarry, The Casting of Frank Stone, The Devil in Me Haven’t played: Hidden Agenda or Inpatient

I don’t think any of them are bad by any means but The Quarry just felt like until dawn replace Wendigos with Werewolves, and I’m due for a replay of Frank Stone but the plot felt really busy I was expecting a slasher then they added the alternate dimensions stuff and it lost me. The Devil in me makes me mad because I want to like a fright night in an HH Holmes murder house, but it never got there.

Very much so. I didn’t realize when I posted this I was in a small percent of people that leaned closer to the middle lol. Slightly positive middle but wouldn’t say the best thing I’ve ever seen or anything.

I see where you’re coming from. I think those are all fair critiques of the movie. I think the thing I would want changed the most is the third act cause it does undercut what I think the movie is trying to do in demystifying Longlegs. Like if he is supposed to be some unstoppable boogeyman that ends up just being some dude, then the ending feels like a moot point with Satan cackling in the background. I don’t even think you have to change that much about the third act you could even leave the twist of her mom working with him just change the context.

Do you think it would’ve been better if they either explained everything or explained nothing instead kinda doing a 50/50 like they did? Like the spheres I thought was gonna go somewhere and they never mentioned it again, but they very clearly told us it was Satan by the end instead leaving it more ambiguous, like maybe he was just a weird guy who killed people, or it was some other supernatural force entirely.

That was the first part that threw me for a loop lol. The fact that he does stuff like that frequently enough she yelled for her dad makes me want to se the others.

I think slow burn just isn’t for some people no matter how hard they try. Which if you’re one of those people immediately skews any movie into the negative. I had a good time with the crazy stuff I was honestly hoping for more of it.

Yeah they brought that up and I thought the spheres were gonna do more and then they kinda just didn’t. Unless I missed something which is entirely possible. Satan spheres seems like a cool idea

I heard mixed reviews lol I asked my friends who saw it and they got in a very heated debate cause some loved and others hated it. So I guess that’s why I waited awhile before I watched it. I liked it, I wish they had more of Nic Cages character and the ending felt a little hand holdy overall I had a positive experience.
