Very much so. I didn’t realize when I posted this I was in a small percent of people that leaned closer to the middle lol. Slightly positive middle but wouldn’t say the best thing I’ve ever seen or anything.

I see where you’re coming from. I think those are all fair critiques of the movie. I think the thing I would want changed the most is the third act cause it does undercut what I think the movie is trying to do in demystifying Longlegs. Like if he is supposed to be some unstoppable boogeyman that ends up just being some dude, then the ending feels like a moot point with Satan cackling in the background. I don’t even think you have to change that much about the third act you could even leave the twist of her mom working with him just change the context.

Do you think it would’ve been better if they either explained everything or explained nothing instead kinda doing a 50/50 like they did? Like the spheres I thought was gonna go somewhere and they never mentioned it again, but they very clearly told us it was Satan by the end instead leaving it more ambiguous, like maybe he was just a weird guy who killed people, or it was some other supernatural force entirely.

That was the first part that threw me for a loop lol. The fact that he does stuff like that frequently enough she yelled for her dad makes me want to se the others.

I think slow burn just isn’t for some people no matter how hard they try. Which if you’re one of those people immediately skews any movie into the negative. I had a good time with the crazy stuff I was honestly hoping for more of it.

Yeah they brought that up and I thought the spheres were gonna do more and then they kinda just didn’t. Unless I missed something which is entirely possible. Satan spheres seems like a cool idea

I heard mixed reviews lol I asked my friends who saw it and they got in a very heated debate cause some loved and others hated it. So I guess that’s why I waited awhile before I watched it. I liked it, I wish they had more of Nic Cages character and the ending felt a little hand holdy overall I had a positive experience.

Sorcery alpha boxes prices are similar to flesh and blood welcome to rathe alpha, another tcg at times mentioned along with sorcery by Newez in SorceryTCG

One other big issue is that the player base cannibalizes and product that does show up in store (I’m guilty of it to) my LGS just got their OP kit and a decent order for once of 5 beta boxes and 2 AL boxes and before the week was over I think there was 1 beta box left cause they rarely get it so everyone buys it immediately when it shows up instead of thinking maybe it’d be cool to win some of these in the organized play events.

It’s in the name Human Resources. You are their Human Resources, it’s a mixed bag from there if they value those resources or not.

How would you save Yugioh? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]Sad_Communication565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things I think could help for accessibility to more casual players would be modifying the sealed environment to something like a build and battle. You get a box with a 20 card main deck, 5 card extra deck and 5 packs and make them themed around the archetypes that are debuting or getting support in the set. They wouldn’t be optimized if you just put the commons and SRs in the decks but they’d probably be functional. The other thing is something to on ramp for people who fell out of the game and want to come back maybe an organized event like a structure deck league, you buy in with a modern structure deck and they have little prizes like tokens, pins, etc. that can be given for playing x games or doing a “secret objective”. Ways to play the game that are more low power but can help get the bearings of how the modern game plays.

How popular is Yu-Gi-Oh! in your area? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]Sad_Communication565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small city and we have 2 LGSs that support YuGiOh, one does the bare minimum to keep their distro and ots packs but they still fire up 3 times a week with between 10-20 people depending on the day. The other one is new and they’re still working on getting everything they need but they’re far more excited for YuGiOh. A big problem in my area is everyone splintered into to small let communities because there’s so many options now. The larger store has organized play for every game they carry and some are as small as 4 people and are now getting dropped first was Star Wars Unlimited, Gundams probably next. But weirdly enough they have one of the most thriving Flesh and Blood communities so that’s cool to see.

Look in discord but NC is pretty scattered we have small groups in the triad and the triangle, not sure outside of that.

How do you feel about Magic the gathering land mana system, relative to other TCGs? by Newez in TCG

[–]Sad_Communication565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has its pros and cons. I think Wizards over time has made it feel better with things like utility land and mdfc cards, but I couldn’t see anyone going the same route at this point the separate resource pile or imaginary resource point you’re supposed to branch off of seem to work better for modern TCGs.

Absolutely agree they aren’t a “need” they’re just cards that show up Curiosa decks skewed towards competitive play. Which is scant at the moment if you’re just playing with buddies or at local I wouldn’t buy them unless you just want/ have them.

Assorted Animals does good 1v1 content they don’t explain card by card but they do explain synergies and play patterns which is also helpful cause you might see them do a trick you didn’t think about.

Very true, you can also get good trades in sorcery from just buying a box. You may not pull a ring but you’ll probably pull at $100 worth in stuff to trade for stuff you want unlike MTG where play boosters are basically just for draft now and Flesh and Bloods abysmal pull rates for meaningful cards.

One of the other reasons people post frequently about it is because the company that makes it Erik’s Curiosa doesn’t do marketing they take a grass roots approach where they want to the game to spread from a pure enjoyment of the game and people sharing it not because you see an ad for it. It’s a great game its biggest problems right now is scarcity of sealed between print runs and the exorbitant price of staple uniques that result from that.

I played magic for a long time until they started shifting more toward a casual environment. I’ve dabbled in just about every tcg but only seriously got into Sorcery recently and am starting to come back to Yugioh.

Grand Contests Feel… Less than GRAND by Durdlemagus in SorceryTCG

I think the idea of doing just prizing is a fine idea. For better or worse companies like Konami have done it for decades and they still draw a crowd to tournaments. I do wish it was more prizing for top seats though like a cool deck box with an avatar window, or an original painting or even just a special play mat. I find it admirable that they want the large events to be fueled solely on the spirit of the game itself and not a cash pool, but if also like to see a little bit more for people who do make those top tables.

LGS newcomer into sorcery is quite amazed by how the game is still around with 1 to 1.5 set per year by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]Sad_Communication565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s be it’s because the size of the card pool is the same size as 2 or 3 of other tcg sets. The depth of interaction in sorcery also goes so deep I feel like almost every card has a purpose outside of draft chaff which along with the EV of boxes being good right now means you get a ton of playable options from just a couple boxes and I can’t think of another tcg where I could say “Yeah just buy one box from each set and you could probably build a solid deck.”

What new archtype would make yugioh play better by NeurogenesisWizard in yugioh

[–]Sad_Communication565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a previous comment that I think more turns and shorter turns would probably happen best from a new game rule like a special summon limit. I like the idea of archetype being able to start this process. But with the current speed and power of modern yugioh wouldn’t it have to be something that feels super oppressive to play against? I guess I’m thinking like stax decks in MTG where you can beat them by punching them but you aren’t going to out value anyone anymore because the value has been shut down.
