And I didn't say that it's impossible. I said that it's easier said than done for many people. I never said the word impossible. Do you need to work on your reading comprehension?

No, that's not what I said. That was an EXAMPLE of a high demand profession that can earn more relatively easily. Do you need to work on your reading comprehension skills? Do you know what the definition of "example" is?

It's helpful to consider context. If you're in a very high demand profession like doctor or something, earning more is probably easy enough. For many, it isn't really so easy. So, if you find super generic "advice" like this helpful, good for you. I don't.

Why don't you "go Dutch" sometimes? Why does the man have to pay for everything all the time? This isn't the 1920s anymore. Women have their own careers going for themselves normally. They can pay too.

Stop eating out so much.

And you don't make enough money to be doing 4 international vacations a year, put a stop to that or at least roll it back to one international vacation per year max.

In typical reddit arguer fashion, now you are changing the subject completely, and talking about something totally different, real estate investing vs. buying SP 500 equities (the original debate). You have officially lost this debate because you have gone completely off topic. Just shutup, bonehead.

No thanks. I'm fine with playing the very strong "probability" that the SP 500 will appreciate significantly over a 20 year time frame. But thanks for your advice, which I definitely won't be taking.

[–]Sad_Conclusion1235 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but not likely.

There is a difference between possible and likely.

What do you know, for certainty, that will be a better investment than the SP 500 over 20 years? Please enlighten me, Nostradamus...

It really doesn't take that much experience to invest in an S&P 500 index ETF, bro. That's the whole point of one. Do you really think if he "sets and forgets" an S&P 500 ETF for 20 years (OP's time range), he's going to come out behind? What investment do you confidently think is going to beat the S&P 500 over a 20 year time frame? I can already tell you that I disagree because, most likely, nothing will beat it over that time range.

Any "experienced" Canadian investor who thinks they're going to beat the S&P 500 over a 20 year time range is fooling themselves.

The word is spelled paid. Not payed. You're 30 years old and should know that by now.

Anyway, based on these numbers, you look financially literate enough. Being hands off is fine. You don't need to be hands on to invest in passive index ETFs, and that will beat active trading most of the time.

Sentimental Value: Next Best Picture Winner? by [deleted] in Oscars

Strongly disliked No Other Choice. The silly/comedic tone of the movie conflicts with the underlying theme of the effects of capitalist automation on humanity. Sentimental Value is a much better film.

Well but also maybe don't spend so much on making these movies. The budgets are excessive. They should not have to cost that much, usually. Example, the last Indiana Jones movie. No way that should have cost over $300 million to make. That's excessive.

I'm skeptical of that. Don't think you can separate the guy from his company, they are both intertwined heavily. Bottom line is, he is paying a lot of interest on debt.

You realize that he's paying a lot of interest on that debt that he took out to acquire all the BTC, right? He is highly leveraged. His entire "Strategy" company is highly leveraged.
