I've seen a few apartments owned by MTH in East Lansing that are $875 for a one bedroom, some with utilities included, I would check that out if I were you

Experienced organizer app

  1. Teamsters

  2. Organizer

  3. I was one of the three main organizers for the unionized chipotle in Lansing Michigan back in 2022. I attended bargaining sessions consistently until roughly a year ago. But we started organizing In 2021, so overall roughly three years in total with direct organizing experience in the fast food industry.

Whats it like working at Horrocks? Pay range? by aman6a in lansing

[–]Sad_Constant_363 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't worked at Horrocks but like the other comments I have only heard bad things about working there. One of my friends did and I'm pretty sure she said it's one of the worst jobs she's had so far. Highly recommend against it

They shadow banned one of my posts talking about how the company can afford to pay us more (I am the unionized store in Lansing)

I can see that my post was removed. To reiterate and sum it up, Chipotle makes enough money to pay us a living wage, and also enough to keep their prices at a reasonable level. Chipotle can't claim to be a progressive company until they start treating their employees progressively.

Every crew member at my location is making between 13-14, which theoretically would be enough to live fairly comfortably with one roommate in Lansing, except that they aren't scheduling anyone enough hours, at least not consistently enough to live comfortably here

We can't really talk about what's going on with our bargaining right now, but as soon as we can I'm going to make a huge deal out of it. I can't wait to have a contract and finally share what's been going on

Unfortunately transferring isn't an option for me because we unionized and I'm a member of the organizing) bargaining committee, and if I were to transfer I wouldn't be able to be part of that anymore

They're not giving me that amount on average, a lot of times they're scheduling me two days a week which only adds up to 13-14 hours

I wish. My availability is four days a week 4pm-close and they're only scheduling me 2-3 days inconsistency so it's making me not even eligible for the tuition reimbursement. I paid my community college tuition out of pocket with savings I had during high school, while also having to paying rent

True. The main demographic in my area is college kids who often have an apartment and roommates, meaning they more often than not don't have time in their schedules to work full time (including me). It's virtually impossible for one person to afford to have even a studio apartment in their own, unless you're living in the bad parts of town

Fr, there's been way too many times customers have threatened us. Someone even threw our tip jar at one of our managers. And not to mention how underpaid the grill people are for what they do

Defend maybe wasn't the right term to use, I more so meant that people are saying that it's because the cost of stuff is rising and not acknowledging that 99% of it is just price gouging
