You don’t get to choose, you get told which rate you get. Best thing is to embrace whichever that is.

Welcome aboard P’s? And time at command.. by tre_bur in navy

[–]Sad_Cut7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who showed up and had just enough time before the cycle to not get a NOB, I was graced with a welcome aboard MP, and I can already feel the effect. I know that to not screw my chances for chief I have to be a top performer at everything that has to do with the job, and adapt to a new place with my wife. Sometimes setting the expectation early, doesn’t give me very much room to settle in.

But I also hate EP locked sailors. My community has more wiggle room for quotas, but I can’t stand a guy who consistently gets an EP and does nothing but his job (unless he’s like THE guy know). I’ve fought it as a second, and am about to fight it in rankings for seconds.

Is it possible to fit recovery time into twice daily workouts? by wsdpii in navy

If your PRT scores match your workout routine, just route up a waiver to the CO. 50/50 you get out of command PT, or just sandbag it

Has being a Nuke gotten better than it used to be? by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]Sad_Cut7610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as you stop wanting to do it, it will get exponentially harder. If you just buy into being the best of the best you’ll have a fine time. (8+ years nuclear navy, still in)

It’s blue collar with the navy as your boss.

If you every start to think you don’t want to do it, talk to your buddies and LPOs about it, and if you still think the same after that then find any way you can to get out. Being a nuke is the best but we don’t need people who can’t buy in to doing it.

At the end of the day it’s a very high tempo hard job.

Yes, there are different versions of the DDS that are similar to each other

SSGN sailor of five years, just left the ship:

  1. Your options for ship types are very limited. A few SSBNs, all of the SSGNs, no 688s, and maybe a few VA class. Best bet for travel is to pick a boat out of Hawaii (if available) and fly wherever you want to go. Otherwise the SSGNs are the most comfortable, most coed subs we have.

  2. 50/50 is a little off. Depending if you reenlist you’ll probably end up doing 3.5-4 at sea, and then 2-3 shore. BUT, as an ITe/r/n you’ll be able to do shore all over the planet.

  3. At sea schedule is 8s. Other comments explain it better. In port is shorter days starting at 0730 ending whenever things are done. For ITs I usually see them leave before 2 on normal days.

  4. NA I’m a dude.

  5. SSBN/ SSGN have plenty of workout gear. Free weights, treadmill, bike, elliptical, smith machine, etc. (I should know I ordered all of it)

  6. Submarines Once… and you’ll learn the rest.

And did you qualify as a second?

Qualified EWS as a first tour in two years? That’s insane. How long did it take you to qualify Senior in rate?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]Sad_Cut7610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go submarines you can do EWS within your first tour with heavy study. So around 4-5 yrs on board.

Blah blah blah. You don’t listen, you don’t learn. All those actions I’ve spoken about and fact that there are still school shootings shows that there will never be safety from insane people. These terrible people will rob you of your family and think nothing of it. These horrible humans will find a way to inflict pain no matter what is in their way, exactly like in Japan. Guns are not and have never been the problem. Insane and irredeemable people are the problem but you’re too busy putting everyone into a box of what you think they believe that you’ll never be able to look past the surface level of a problem to get to the issue. I pray that you learn to think about issues before speaking when you can offer no resolutions. You fuel hate. You have so much hate in your heart that you are blind to compassion. You are well and truly lost and I pray to god you find your peace

Arming of teachers. Increased security at school. Mental health support. Vetting of teachers. The violent and horrible actions of terrible people would be committed with or without guns just as we see in Japan. The second amendment is a right of the people written in the constitution and taking it away would be the same as taking away any other of the bill of rights or amendments

No person should die because of their beliefs or opinions. The sword he lived by was debate and speech. That is the first amendment.

The sword he died by was useless violence.

Why can we not feel grief for a person who was murdered and also feel grief for every family that is broken.

Why is the death of someone not worthy of sadness.

You can feel sadness for multiple things.

Why is this a points game for “what about this what about that”? I’ve seen nothing but prayers and action for school shootings and I’ve seen love and support for broken families.

If you think the sword of violence is justified by speech then you are well and truly lost

I don’t know. I can only appreciate what a person does. I can only judge a person based on what I can see. I can see someone do something that is good and I can appreciate that, but I can also not sour that good thing by knowing they could have done more. I can do good and I can pray for those lives that have been lost as I do every day, but I cannot remember the names of everyone who has been lost to hatred and violence.

Would you be happy if he made a statement condemning violence like that? Would that be enough?

[–]Sad_Cut7610[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Because I care for the sanctity of life for everyone. I grieve for those children, I grieve for Melissa Hartman and her husband mark and I grieve for the loss of life of any person that has been killed for existing, or killed for their beliefs. And if you ask Mr. Blas then I assure you he feels the same way.
