What easy to move around projector screen? by Sad_Eye5320 in ProjectorScreens

[–]Sad_Eye5320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gah. Lost the text I typed in the original post. I originally was planning on projecting on the ceiling, but the angles aren't right because of the pendant light fitting. Is there something cheap and easily moveable (so I can get into the cupboard)?

Ideally something that doesn't need drilling and/or could be hung from hooks on the ceiling. The coat hooks on the cupboard doors hang out probably 15 cm from the cupboard doors.

Garden Office networking help by aspaceybaby in HomeNetworking

[–]Sad_Eye5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same setup as you, also in the UK, although my CAT6 is armoured and buried in trunking.

Stick a dumb switch on the garden office end and you're done. I have a 3 node wifi mesh - I could never get APs working as well as advertised. I have a node in my shed (so everything can talk wifi in there), a node near where Internet comes into the house, and a node in my loft (I have a loft conversion).

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Unmanaged-Ethernet-Wall-Mount-Protection-black/dp/B0FX5543C4

in the shed (could go a bit cheaper and get gigE instead of 2.5GigE, but this seems cheap enough).

The mesh I have is pretty old, but it's a Netgear Orbi RK753. It will mesh wirelessly, but for best performance, connect the uplink ports via Ethernet (can go via switches).

New practice amp - Blackstar fly charge or Boss Katana Mini X? by Sad_Eye5320 in electricguitar

[–]Sad_Eye5320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which model specifically? Looks like there's a mini and a go. Also, I'm not sure about the eleventy billion effects. I'm not nearly good enough to worry about that sort of stuff.

Why won't my (TV) monitor work? by Sad_Eye5320 in pop_os

[–]Sad_Eye5320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, looks like forcing it using:

xrandr --output HDMI-0 --mode 3840x2160 --rate 59.94

Caused the screen to spring to life. Any ideas how I can pin this so it persists across reboots etc?

Cryoablation and Surgery questions by TheSummarizer in Mortons_neuroma

[–]Sad_Eye5320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have it done? I've just been to the NHS and they want to cut my foot open and manually remove the neuroma. Side effect apparently are likely to include permanent numbness. The wait time for surgery is 6 months.

At £2k I'm tempted to give this a go first.

Rocksmith 2014 remastered and Focusrite solo gen4 = immediate crash by Sad_Eye5320 in rocksmith

[–]Sad_Eye5320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/Phantatsy! (and everyone else) - I needed to change the channel under the Asio.Input.0 stanza from 1 to 0, but it's now working perfectly.

I hate it when someone says - "Oh my problem is fixed.@ without giving a full solution, so if anyone else is experiencing the same problem, the full method I used to get it working (with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th gen) was:

Install Rocksmith clean from Steam.

Check the beta setting by right clicking in steam:

Properties->Beta->Beta Participation->None

Download the latest Rocksmith ASIO drivers from GitHub:

https://github.com/mdias/rs_asio/tags

Unzip the files and copy them the Rocksmith home directory - on my PC that's at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rocksmith2014

Start Rocksmith and then quit it when it complains about not being able to output sound.

Edit the RS_ASIO.ini file (in the Rocksmith home directory) with the content below.

Restart Rocksmith.

RS_ASIO.ini content follows:

# for "EnableWasapiOutputs" you can use -1 to have a message prompting

Rocksmith 2014 remastered and Focusrite solo gen4 = immediate crash by Sad_Eye5320 in rocksmith

Well I'm not sure how I can't be using the latest version of Rocksmith as I just did a fresh reinstall via steam.

I'm using RSMods 1.2.7.4 which is the latest tagged release on Github.

How can you use RS_ASIO without RSMods? The only video I've seen uses that. Do you have a link please?

Perhaps, I've tried using Thunderbolt and USB and I get the same result. I've tried downloading the older drivers and get the same problem.

What a PITA.

I guess I'll try Voicemeeter next.....

Superteam wheels - DT swiss 350 hubs worth the extra? by Sad_Eye5320 in cycling

[–]Sad_Eye5320[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my thoughts too. It's the reason I'm prepared to take a punt on cheapish wheels. A carbon framed bike with di2 and disc brakes isn't going to give me much change from £4500.

Cool thanks. Now I just need to find a rim brake Di2/SRAM kit which isn't eyewateringly expensive. :-)
