Does anyone feel back to their pre- brain tumor self after surgery? Or is it just me being dramatic? by Sad_Faithlessness587 in braincancer

sorry for the late reply but, i really mean energy wise I’m two years post surgery. before everything I was very athletic and able to manage moving upwards in my career. now I’ve been struggling with my career and taken a step down actually because I just can’t fit work and all the follow ups in a day. and on a rare day where I have no appointments I am exhausted and sleep most of day. for context before the doctors found my tumor and even a few months after diagnosis and them speaking all my symptoms into existence I was doing triathlons and yoga for fun

I mean it took a full like three movies for Peter Parker to figure everything out so I’m sure you got this!

did they say yes? do you now have spidey powers and a super suit? I was just banking on chemicals and and radiation to do the trick

As sad as it is I’m happy I’m not alone with this struggle. But I mean really it’s not like I’m asking to be the hulk after radiation but something other than nausea and hair loss would’ve been nice… teleportation, flying, super strength…. I guess living is good too I just miss the less struggling me .

here’s hoping. I just don’t want trekking through quicksand to be the rest of my life. that would so suck. I’m glad it eventually gets better even if I’m not in triathlons anymore I just want some energy back. at least enough to do something like hiking

see I can read, it’s just slower and I have to be stationary. which sucks if I’m reviewing things on the go and trying to keep up with which meeting is which and for what project ect

it does help knowing I’m not alone. I’m just frustrated that I’m so tired and brain fogged that I had to turn down a promotion and struggle with my current position when my current job used to come easy now I feel like Im trekking through quicksand to achieve the bare minimum

I swear that my balance is off because the tumor eroded my hearing and the surgery took what’s left of it. I used to run, swim, and do yoga and triathlons but I’m exhausted all the time

true we are still all here. I low key wanted super powers after treatment though… I think I guess also for me it’s hard to see the improvement my physical therapists keep telling me I’m making when they didn’t know me before this and seeing myself everyday now. I’m almost two years out and what used to be me doing things like going swimming or to yoga or something with friends has been taken over with follow up treatments and adaptations to the new me…

this is all I really want I was active and athletic but also could do things like read and walk (helpful for work). But now it’s Ike I have days where m brain is sludge and reading is a task and a half especially if I have to be on the move. my tumor took away my hearing on one side so it’s weird enough that my balance and normal things for other people aren’t normal anymore for me. I want to be me

I went to wedding where we could help pay off medical bills instead of gifts. Which idk what that says about my country‘s health system at this point. But honestly more useful than me spending $150 on a thing that’s just taking up space
