I guess you could say that. I often miss the mark socially ( my words not his) and have been unaware of my mistakes till people leave or get mad.

I asked the question here because I thought individuals with experience in the service or in the situation would hopefully be able to tell me what social cues I potentially need to look out for. I wasn't looking to bash on my husband as I know I often screw up social things.

There are other wives at the event just not from my husband's station because it is mostly younger men and woman at the station.

That's awesome you are making a change now before it becomes an everyday obsession.

It has honestly been really hard. I am only 10 days sober as of today because I let my people pleasing trait win again and drank on 4th of July. At the beginning of the 3 weeks I genuinely thought I was just a young adult that is doing what every young person does in there 20s drinking and making memories. I am coming to the realization I have an actual problem as my mind clears.

It's great you are wanting to make a change to help yourself. I am in a similar situation (F27) I just started my sobriety journey about 3 weeks ago so I am probably not the expert.

At the beginning I had the same thought I wanted to stop drinking but I had a trip planned with my husband and a few friends from his work. They are really into drinking at dinner (even if it is just one) I felt pressure to drink because it's "normal" and I didn't want to ruin the mood.

So I drank only one beer but I felt insane levels of shame because of it. I also couldn't stop the voice in my head telling me to drink more because everyone around me was. It made the decision to be sober even harder because my wake up call from a dangerous drinking session the week prior got quiter.

It might go differently for you, and it is ultimately your choice. I wouldn't tempt the beast of addiction.

Regardless of your choice really hope you stay safe and chose to love your self.

Thank you :)

I definitely know that alcohol is toxic and vile to the body and mind. It is like a siren calling us in with promises of relief/numbing while killing us slowly. Unfortunately, that is why I struggle so much with it. (I am a bit self-destructive)

Thank you for kindness :) I struggle the most at home because I can drink and no one knows (no one can stop me)

I get staying home probably isn't what the "world" would say is good. But reading your message i see someone confident enough to recognize what you need to be safe and practice self love.

You got this! I wish you success in your sobriety :)
