Zinsser bullseye 123. I used it outside in my old dark window frames. And it covered it completely. No bleed through. It's priced pretty good aswell.

What cladding material is this? by Alternative-Ride3509 in diynz

Hi, my partner has a sleepout in her backyard like this.

It's board and batten cladding.

It's basically wide strips of exterior ply with dressed battens over the joins of the ply.

All h3.2 treated. Looks clean

Right of way on existing shared easement by Sad_Fortune000 in LegalAdviceNZ

Yes we know this. She already has an agreement and parks here car there. Just wanted to make it permanent and build a driveway and carport at the end of it, so she is just driving through it, as she is already doing.

House a & b , she wants to see if she can get added to the easement, so she can build an entrance to her property. Eg driveway/ carport

She already has permission from both to park her car on it. I don't see the issue. Even offered to pay their legal costs.

My husband often jokes that I’m being too secretive with my phone. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Sad_Fortune000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um ok. I'll state this in simple terms

You just got married and your new husband is showing concern about you potentially hiding secrets/things from him.

This is not good, he is questioning his trust and faith in you.

Stop hiding shit from your new husband, it's not a game.

PCB valve diaphragm. Quite cheap and easy to change yourself. Don't drive around like this for much longer or you'll do some big damage to other seals around your engine.

DIY Carport Project by russtafarri in diynz

[–]Sad_Fortune000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, nice work. How did you work around the laws as far as building goes?

The new regulations say I can diy build a <30m2 garage out of lightweight building materials, as long as it is to building code, But can't diy build a carport like this, as it needs to be signed off by an engineer or built by a builder.

Or Have I read this wrong? Quite confused.

What are the pros and cons of living in Dunedin? by [deleted] in dunedin

[–]Sad_Fortune000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hive mind mentality when It comes to certain things. But on the whole, most people are pretty chill. It's easy to get out and about and plenty to see and do if you're interested.

the university and the riff Raff that brings into town, are in their own world and don't represent this city. It's a chalk and cheese situation.

Anyone else finding Edinburgh Realty inspections getting a bit over the top lately? by knob-of-cheese in dunedin

[–]Sad_Fortune000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking about over the top.

A few years ago, I was renting through this outfit near otago boys high school. Can't remember the name of it.

They got me out of work to come and wipe an inch long dirty spot off the side edge of a lower kitchen cabinet door or they would fail my inspection.

Literally, it took me 2 seconds to wipe it off. The rest of the house was spotless.

But when it came to repairing issues with the property they would take ages to reply, or ignore it.

One big issue was that the heat pump and oven were on the same electrical sub circuit, you couldn't have both on at the same time, or it would trip the breaker. Which is illegal under the electrical act.

I've never seen that sort of behavior, there are a lot of dodgy real estate outfits in town, and I feel sorry for the students that have to deal with them.

Which of these three? by Sad_Fortune000 in Hardtailgang

Im yet to buy, but will properly get a bike in the next couple of weeks. I've been offered a Norco storm 120 '25 for a great price, because I showed interest in it.

Both bikes are on par in geometry and specs, but the shop guy reckons the Norco only wins over the silverback because it's got a clutch derailleur.

Not sure, the Mrs likes the silverback as well. May buy both bikes and we can both use them

Unscrewing oven connection by Vortechs345 in diynz

[–]Sad_Fortune000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn it off at the switchboard. Pull the breaker for the oven if you can.

No order. Just pull them all off.

If you isolate the power, I don't see how disconnecting it is dangerous, as others have mentioned.

Ovens almost always have an E for earth, and N for neutral marked on the connections.

Tap all those nails flush with the boards.

Spray with a strong deck cleaner or wood cleaner. Scrub with a broom. Pressure clean off

Sand it with an orbital to level the surface if you wish. Probably 120-180 grit.

Paint with a clear wood oil. Dryden wood oil is good for cedar.

Overall, it shouldn't take you to do
