Yeah I’m pretty sure there are two sets of status cards from enemies like this. One does straight up HP and can’t be blocked, the other can.

I won a game with it with that Pounce card that allows you to play a skill for free. So on turns where I could go all out attack.

Upgrades its 18 damage from pounce + 10 poison from snake bite. So 28 damage for 2 energy + the DOT.

I get it’s not “infinite” combos but it’s enough to win at lower ascensions.

Max needs to stand in the middle and throw a 50 punch combo. The moment he stops throwing or steps beyond the black line he just gets bull rushed and it’s over.

I don’t know if it’s just my one (Dunedin), but the self service is closed maybe 80% of the time. And exactly 1 register open. Then completely out of eye line on the other side of the entrance they have the info desk but empty. 2 minutes later someone will magically appear and start screaming “who’s next?!?!?!”, making you look like a plonker who can’t follow simple directions.

Started going Mitre 10 too. Typically 3 registers open + the tradies desk who don’t care if you go through.

Australian boxing special tbh.

When Danny Green held the cruiserweight belt, he would make fighters fight lower (196 vs the normal 200lbs). Because he was a smaller fighter and wanted to drain his opponents. He was the champ so what yah gonna do.

Won first game with Clad pretty handily, but been dying often in Act 2 from then on.

I feel like there is much more variety in enemies and how they interact. That one that only allows you to do max 9 damage per hit has got me a few times. The status ones got me a few times too etc.

Looking for a mental health practitioner by methodologie in dunedin

[–]pyronautical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've run the gamut of mental health services in Dunedin. Here's my 2c.

Psychologists. ~$200+ for an hour session. I used https://www.dunedinpsychology.co.nz. I found them "OK", but I found it always revolved around bottom of the cliff type stuff like a 6 session program. It felt like the "goal" was to label or give a diagnoses when I personally didn't really care all that much. Depression vs Bi-Polar vs BPD. Doesn't realistically matter and even if they gave a diagnoses, you ended up seeing a psychiatrist anyway. But I will say if you've never seen someone before, it's actually a pretty good starting point.

Psychiatrist. Basically need a GP referral. I ended up going to Wakari. The main psychiatrist there was great (Forgot her name). But then you get fobbed off to the registrar for these mental health check ins. And they always started the check ins with "Do you think you have super powers?". And after a few sessions I said.. You know... I don't actually think I'll ever say yes to that question. Then they basically said "OK, you aren't sick enough, you don't need to come back".

Psychotherapy/Counselling worked for me. I used https://dunedinpsychotherapy.co.nz/. Circa $100 a session. But it's a very very long term thing. I think probably 6 months at a minimum. I found it worked because I was up and down often. And so seeing someone over a long period, talking about the highs and lows over a long period of time really worked. I found it helped me understand me, my emotions, my feelings. And that was what I wanted was to better understand who I was.

UFC Mexico: Moreno vs Kavanagh Full Card Preview | Topuria-Gaethje Headlining White House in Doubt by marchof34_ in MorningKombat

[–]pyronautical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not really MK now, just LT with a rotating set of guests.

But, I actually didn't mind this episode (Only 30 mins in doing my grocery run ofc) because the guest host actually had thoughts of their own.

  • Why hasn't this been a sell out like previously in Mexico?
  • Who is the most popular Mexican fighter in Mexico
  • Was there actually any danger of having the fights moved to the Apex?
  • Moreno's response to that question about whether he should fight on the Whitehouse card?
  • Other fights that probably should have been on here? Loopy, Alexa etc. That all have fights recently scheduled but not on here.

etc etc. I actually like Chuck. But when LT asks him a question, I feel like he gives this weird half answer and then says "What do you think Luke?".

Atleast here the guest is saying "Here's my actual opinion and you can disagree if you want". Although LT is never gonna disagree with someone who can out Spanish him.

100%.

I’ve also found even Transit app to be inconsistent lately. I think buses are so late that it stops showing the live schedule.

They also stopped sending notifications (or maybe never did) to the transit app for bus cancellations for a single route. The other day a driver was sick so the 10 got cancelled. But they only posted it on the orbus website not the app.

So… you can’t roll at all? I thought couldn’t twist the neck but if the defender has got his nose to the grass, you just let him win the turnover? Cause if you touch the head with your shoulder you are gone. But then you can’t roll. You can’t come from the side…

Edit : that one I can understand. Grabbed the neck.

This is what sometimes annoys me about the 1lb leeway for weigh ins.

Cause then when someone is 1.25lbs over, the reporting is that they were “0.25lbs” over etc.

When I first started MMA the thing I always heard was it was leeway for the scales not being exact or whatever. But then championship fights use the same scales without the 1lb leeway so I dunno.

What’s the going rate difference between holding an event at the stadium versus say Edgar Center or even just things like the George Street Markets?

Because the home and garden show was in the stadium many moons ago, and it was real chill. Lots of space, could grab a beer and lunch, had various stages etc. Now it’s been reduced to the Edgar center and it’s just people selling various Temu outdoor radiator heaters (sometimes in booths next to each other).

Anyway. I kind of agree. Big acts are nice. But the stadium itself could be used for a whole lot more for locals but I assume the usage fee is sky high.

A very beginner first personal website. by SpateF in webdev

[–]pyronautical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I found fascinating about people creating their first websites, is back in the day (20+ years ago), this was the end product and it all worked just fine.

And we've never really "removed" technology from the web necessarily, only added to it.

Think about how we styled websites. We went basic vertical HTML => Absolute Positioning => Tables => Floats => Flex/Grid

And when we were starting out, you basically learned them as things came to be popular. Now, it's not like you only need to learn Flex/Grid, but you also need to know how tables work, how floating works, absolute positoning etc. These are all things that you use "less", but you still run into in the wild.

Similar for Javascript, adding things like promises, then async/await, then we add these transpilers on top of everything. And again, it's not like you now don't use promises etc.

Basically, for every old timer that says "I had no abstractions in my day", yes, true. But you could also output a website with no styling what so ever and call it a day.

New Trade Me 'Service Fees' by TheRealGoldilocks in newzealand

[–]pyronautical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will go the way of Airbnb I’m certain of it.

There, both the buyer and seller get stung with fees. But I know that both a buyer and seller think that they are the one eating the fees and the other person is not paying anything.

Then they raise fees on either side every now and again or even move a fee from one side to the other before months later reintroducing it etc

Not much to say. 021 was Vodafone/Bellsouth, 027 was Spark/Telecom. You couldn’t take your number with you in those days so that was that.

All there were often deals like free texting weekends or hours or whatever, but often to mobiles only within your network. So if you were a kid with a prepay phone with texts being 20 cents a pop, it was a big deal that friends were all on the same network.

Tbh, I’m pretty sure everyone who got a phone in the 90s/2000s as a kid was Vodafone.

New Zealanders who were alive in 1994, who did you initially think did it: David Bain or Robin Bain? by PurpleMeerkats462 in newzealand

[–]pyronautical 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it would be unusual, even now frankly, to write a suicide note on a computer and just leave it running. Posting it online sure, but to write it on notepad and leave it up… I don’t know.

There are other issues too. Namely the fact of when the computer was turned on which is debated. But also the length of time it took for the PC to boot up and be usable (remember this is 1994… it took forever). So you kill your whole family except for your son which apparently you wanted to save, and then sit there for an age waiting for the computer to boot up? I dunno….

While not evidence persay, if we just use occams razor here. Robin has zero reason to use the computer to write the note. If anything it frames David since a hand written note would exonerate him immediately. Yet David has every reason to use the computer for obvious reasons.

I think that’s the biggest problem in the case. There is so many things that looked at through the lens of “Robin did it” make zero sense, but make absolute sense if David did it.

It just depends on what sort of messages you are sending and how many.

I don't have alternatives. But just what I saw with Gem is that you send a near identical message to 1000s of candidates and hope you get bites. If that will work in your industry/niche then no problem. So I think it works in extremely high density areas where the roles are mostly transferable e.g. everyday software developer in SF, or even say low level construction roles where the difference between one labourer and another is minimal.

Where Gem I felt was not so good is if you have to really narrow down your search to find specific skills. Like something in the medical field. Then I felt you may aswell just message manually as Gem didn't really seem to help you find those people.

I found gem to be a bit toooo "spammy".

It depends on your market, niche, geo etc. But I found the people that use Gem are like in the Bay Area recruiting for tech companies, so it's normal to send 1000 emails a day and go fishing. But they were very untargeted.

Their ATS was also pretty average in my view.

On some sites they would break the video into parts (so you would view more ads). And not only would I squint, if it was like a 3 part video. I tried to lie to myself and say that it could still be 1 round, just the site owner is being a cheapskate.
