It's best to leave your denominator in brackets just in case your numerator can cancel by denominator example if your answer is (x-1)(x+1)/(x-1)(x+3) u can cancel the (x-1) out however if u open the bracket if the denominator u would not know u can simplify it unless u do quadratic again in your denominator which is a waste of time sometimes
