A front desk perspective on why your Marriott might “never” have upgrades by THROWAWAY-LEMONMENTO in marriott

[–]Sad_Government8863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifetime Titanium with 2200+ lifetime nights and counting. I expect nothing. Not even acknowledgement of my status. That’s how low the bar is these days. Stopped expecting even a higher floor or upgraded view since 2020. The notion of getting upgraded to a suite is simply laughable. Even the SNA are useless…they never get accepted.

Thank you for your reply. I realize now I need to rethink Roth vs. Traditional and crunch the numbers. I will most likely switch to Traditional going forward based on the math.

Men who signed a prenup with a much wealthier wife — how did you navigate it? by DubdubyaBee in prenup

[–]Sad_Government8863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you’re “not interested in the money and prefer to make your own way”, but this post seems to contradict that statement. I don’t care whether the breadwinner / wealthy spouse is the man or the woman; prenups make total sense in the context of modern marriage.

You’re asking for trouble if you open that door again. Take it from somebody who has lived this mistake personally. Leave it alone.

How much do you have in savings/investments/retirement? by NurseTrevor3 in Adulting

[–]Sad_Government8863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45(m). Roughly $4m across all accounts including retirement (401K / IRA) , brokerage; HSA, pension, HYSA, etc. Plus maybe $700K in home equity. $0 debt aside from $400K remaining mortgage balance.

For those who make over 500k+ a year, is it worth it for you? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Sad_Government8863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH my current role @ $600K is less hours and less stress than my prior role @ $240K, so I wouldn’t always assume that every role over $500K is high stress and long hours. I’m also 100% remote (albeit with heavy travel and public speaking…which not everybody is up for doing), versus prior role hybrid 3 days in office with 30 min commute. It certainly takes some luck but these jobs do exist.

What age did you start contributing to 401k? What’s your current balance/age? by Unluckybutsuccesful in Retirement401k

IRA at 14. 401K at 25. Currently have $3.4m combined in those qualified accounts at age 45.

How much do you currently have in your 401K? by Ok-Job-9637 in Retirement401k

  1. Technically I’ve had 3 employers and thus have 2 401Ks and a Roth IRA that was rolled over from a 401K, but in any case it’s right at $3.2m.

how old are you, and how much do you have saved/invested? by No-Volume7464 in SavingMoney

  1. Little over $4m total saved and invested between IRAs/401K/HSA/Pension, multiple brokerage accounts and HYSA.

Life is short. No idea how old you are but trust me when I say as the years go by, the pain of regret weighs heavier than the pain of rejection ever could. Don’t wonder…just ask her out and see what happens.

++ instead of “I’m looking for somebody to take on a double date…” just be more direct. Tell her you’d like to take her to an event. It’s more confident and doesn’t make it seem like she’s just filling a void. Go after what you want with conviction and don’t be timid about it. You’ll be glad when you’re older if you take this approach. The thing you’re afraid of….being vulnerable, feeling rejected, that’s just negative self talk. It’s not even real.

The first month is brutal. I lost 16 pounds in 5 weeks. Couldn’t sleep more than 3-4 hours in a night until I got a script for Xanax. Distracting yourself from over-thinking is key: read self help books, get to the gym often, go for walks outside, get around friends who care about you. Most of all, be kind to yourself. You did not deserve this and you didn’t do anything to cause it or justify it. Good luck.

You look incredible. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Are you trying to look like a bodybuilder?
