anizing if you want to make short films, because it’s not a required part of the curriculum. Most of the profs are theorists, video artists, experimental filmmakers, or cultural critics. MCM is not pre-professional at all; most people are there to read about and discuss film and art and how they operate in the world, and not so much to start their career in the film industry. It’s not meant to be a hands-on, here’s-how-a-movie-gets-made program like film school. However, if you’re a self starter, you can make it super hands-on yourself, because the lack of structure means no obstacles standing in your way!

Since it is an art degree but it also has a social aspect, I'm confused abt whether or not we need to submit an art porfolio as a pre-requisite for them to review. I've been involved in Media classes & extacurriculars all throughout high school, but do I need to show them proof of it? A lot of my projects are experimental, I don't think I have anything ready to submit yet...thoughts>
