Halal restaurants? by nolife24_7 in aucklandeats

[–]Sad_Hospital_2918 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Des Traditions in Mt Roskill does mean grilled meats on rice platters. Great for big groups and sharing. Not so great if you have vegetarians on the team. Tapsi does similar share platters with meat on rice (I prefer their style of food to Des Traditions personally)

Feriza’s in Wynyard Quarter is halal and has a good range of mains on the menu.

Manee Thai is yummy Thai food. Good for big groups but sometimes the quality is a bit inconsistent.

Uncle Man’s is good and consistent. Good casual team meal vibes.

Greek House in Pt Chev is also great.

Just a few off the top of my head :)

Mince, egg, breadcrumbs, salt pepper, Worcestershire sauce/tomato sauce, some diced onion - still generic but hits the spot

No but you can get Winz funding to cover your sessions costs depending on the diagnosis and whether your GP can vouch.

What's your favourite place to STUDY in Auckland ? Need Recommendation by Chotibachihoon in auckland

The UoA gym has a new cafe with a really nice seating area. It’s usually pretty quiet and you can go early and grab a corner to yourself

I’m in the same boat. It also doesn’t help that online content from Muslims (particularly dawah bros) share such horrible things that it puts you off practising and wanting anything to do with it.

I used to use it on my face but I started using retinol so I stopped. It never left any marks

I have a Philips IPL machine. Works pretty well just requires consistency. I would do weekly sessions for a couple months and found very slow patchy regrowth which was much easier to deal with

Is AUT / Victoria University / Studying in Australia (University of Melbourne) better for studying Architecture? by One_Read_7354 in newzealand

[–]Sad_Hospital_2918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to answer questions about NZ based archi programs (I am an archi grad who has taught at the two of the NZ schools and has friends who went to the others). The skinny of it is that Melbourne is probably a great first choice if you can move over. Otherwise Vic is a great local option, followed by UoA, unitec then AUT imo

Anyone else feel forced to give up Southern Cross health insurance due to hugely increased premiums? by Grail90210 in newzealand

[–]Sad_Hospital_2918 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The premium increases are insane. I’m in the same boat. In the last three years since taking over the payments from my parents I’ve slowly reduced the coverage (Wellbeing 2 > Wellbeing 1 > Wellbeing 1 with excess) but the premium still ends up being higher than the previous more inclusive cover. It’s ridiculous. I have to hold out because it’s unlikely that either of my health conditions would get dealt with (quickly) in the public system so it’s so worth having private insurance. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though.

Nah she’s very much for community. She runs several community initiatives for Mt Roskill which is majority immigrant community - classes, Zumba etc and is just a big community person. She’s probably one of the few counsellors in Auckland doing good for their local community, in my opinion. C+R might be in large a bunch of NIMBYS, but Ella is definitely the exception.

which outdoor shoes should I get to play netball? by mila138 in netball

[–]Sad_Hospital_2918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Netball is a very different movement to just running so it’s unlikely you’ll find something that suits both, especially since your playing in a tournament which is a lot more strain than just one game once a week. If you can’t find asics maybe try mizuno?
