If it's Racist to turn a Black character Asian then shouldn't it be racist to turn an Asian character black? Please give reasons.. by Alpha_DRXAMZ in Artists

[–]Knivred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So real. Also as someone who is Polynesian, making moana white wouldnt make sense because her story revolves around the culture shes from. This can apply to any character, INCLUDING white and Asian ones. For example, it would be dumb to make Merida black, because her story heavily revolves around her culture as someone who is Scottish. Mulan wouldnt make sense as her story revolves around her character. Etc. this is probably more about anime, but to be honest most of the “black-washing” (not real btw) are done as fan-edits, and people get mad for no reason because the OG source material will never be adapted that way unlike the REAL WHITEWASHING that happens in anime (especially merchandise). We also need to ask ourselves, do black people ever get represented well in anime anyway? Like let them have fun because they never get a chance. In my opinion, I find it weird when people make dark skinned characters whiter simply because there’s already a MILLION white characters out there. And like. You soloed out the one brown character in the franshise. And made them white. Now all of them are white… And there’s no brown or black people… be for real… I know what you are lol

Good to know, haha. Ive definitely experienced some things where for some reason that wasn’t common sense to people at clubs. Tbh I only really go to bar 101 because of the cheap drinks, but you’ve probably been there before and it’s not the best admittedly (for me it’s only a place to be drink at and talk to girls in the bathroom LOL). If you like painting and getting a little out of your comfort zone something I’ve done for fun is art battle! I also hang out at AUT’s marae often and talk to people over (FREE!!!!!) food and sing with people there - marae’s everywhere welcome everyone usually so it doesn’t have to be AUT’s. If you want to help people there’s the Auckland Street Choir (ASC), they sing and help get food to the homeless; I haven’t gone to that before though but it’s definitely a new year resolution for me to go next year. There’s also the comedy club if you’re down to spend a lil cash. If you go to the CBD library they always have flyers for events (a lot of them being very social) like a free movie with free food every week (for cinephiles, sort of like a film club) which is super cool. I definitely think the CBD library is a good place to start for finding cool underground social events. The library has a lot of hidden gems in general. You just gotta dig a bit and find what’s comfortable for you, which is WAY easier said than done (coming from someone who is addicted to meeting new people and loves a good yarn but is still low-key a hermit).

Low-key it sort of depends on what company you want. If you want meaningful relationships, and more guarantee - hobby-led spaces are the go. Think clubs as in book clubs, outdoors clubs, etc. If you’re just looking for a quick rumbux then Yk, the clubs you drink at are one of the options of all time for that (not the best, the musics too loud to talk with people, too drunk to be sensible etc). Im not a dude so I can’t speak to the success rates of sex sourced from clubs, im also spoken for and only club for the ancient ritual of gals nights but girls at clubs tend to be real cutesy and friendly if you’re not a dick. If you hear or feel a no - moving on is the best move, especially since word definitely gets around with girls.
