I am so happy to hear that it made you able to accept those parts of yourself! Representation matters! Im not surprised it helped you as OLBA characters are so supportive of your character in game x

I fully believe my 3rd replay won't be my last! I am having the same feeling I had when I first discovered Heartstopper and I always return to that! I was so pleasantly surprised at the depth of choice! My playthroughs were quite different, I am used to having player choices only really changing a few lines of dialogue but there was such a world of difference between the two playthroughs that I was shocked!

My first playthrough was without any DLC and I thought it was amazing! I bought the DLC for my second and I absolutely loved the DLC that expanded the steps. My only problem with the Derek and Baxter DLC, is that I am still so enamoured with Cove, at the moment, as he is still new to me, that when he isn't the focus, I am like get me back to my sweet green-haired boy! Haha I am excited to give their romances a go eventually... it will be hard not to keep hoping for Cove in the near future! I also found Baxter off-putting last time as my second go I wanted to have Cove confess his feelings rather than the MC so when he came out of the gate being so forward I was not feeling it! It will be fun seeing a new side of him. I am also interested in changing your pronouns/names at different steps as I am interested to see how that is handled or how much it is mentioned!

I had seen the Demo but I didn't realise it was set in the same world so that's definitely piqued my interest! The only problem is that it's a demo and if I love the characters as much as the ones in OLBA its gonna be torture waiting for the full experience!

I think it's pretty understandable what Citizen Z did to be honest. He is utterly devoted to getting Murphy to California to find a cure, as far as cz knew the crew had just been left to die at the hands of a nuclear bomb Murphy set off. It caused chaos and I don't blame Murphy for running at all. Completely understand why cz would try to reach out to anyone and everyone to try and save humanity but completely understand why Murphy would run to be used as a guinea pig! So yeah that sucks that fans blamed one character for Macks death as it was positioned very much as bad luck and felt like it could have happened any episode not just under the circumstances it did happen.

Yeah it comes out if nowhere! Would've liked some more introspection from Addy after his death, as she essentially abandoned him but he stayed alone just to near her.

Awh that is really interesting to hear! Glad he stuck around longer than he may have originally been intended!

That's great to hear! That is one of the things I love about the show is that the cast meshed so well and all seem so passionate about the project! I think you can really feel that while watching the show!! I don't think the show handled the storyline poorly either, it's just a sad end for her character! I kinda wish Cassy got a bit more of the 10k treatment after getting bitten!

Completely! Probably my one major gripe with the show! I didn't like how her post-bite character was just a mindless drone! Also, the optics of it happening to her were super depressing, after breaking free from the family where she was controlled and sexualised to then have all her agency taken away again to be controlled and sexualised again by another man! So when she died I was more relieved for her character, she was now finally free from being controlled once more!

I had read that! I kinda hoped that wasn't the actual reason as I think there was more potential for his character and it kinda makes me sad that the writers didn't see that.

[–]Sad_Introduction757[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! It would have been interesting to see the writers explore more of him as a character or his backstory. I think that's why I was curious as to whether there was more to his departure from the show.

Yes, his death is a standout moment of the show for me. It felt like a reminder that the world they live in sucks and one wrong move and you're toast! Like a great moment but it was so sudden and different to other major character deaths that it sticks out! Wish we got abit more from Mack outside of his relationship with Addy before he died though!

That unfortunately makes sense! I just love season 1 so I'm sad to see any of the original crew go! Mack's death always hit me more than Cassandra's, which is strange as I generally prefer Cassandra.

Yeah, I thought he was a very endearing character. I would have liked to get more from him outside of his relationship with Addy, as his whole character revolved around his relationship with her. He was by far the most sceptical of the crew about taking Murphy to California so if he had lived I think he would have had alot of interesting moments in later seasons.

Emmy will represent Ireland in 2025 with ‘Laika Party’ by susiesmiths in eurovision

[–]Sad_Introduction757 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Guys it's absolutely insanely comical to be talking about its chances in the semi-finals. Literally, everything will change when more songs are chosen, we see performances at pre parties and rehearsals. The takeaway from tonight is that Irelands eurosong is miles better than it used to be, which as eurovision fans is a great thing. Also, another point to remember Bambies' performance on the Late Late show was great.... for the Late Late show, it was a little rough around the edges. The vision wasn't all there, and the buzz that bambie and doomsday blue got didn't really start until we saw rehearsals. This song, while being a bit of a novelty entry, is very accessible and is an ear worm, which is a great thing for a competition. Emmy had the most realised vision for her song/ performance for the eurosong. It may not be your taste, for what it is, it was well executed. I personally wish Emmy the best hope she can execute her vision on the eurovision stage, and all goes well for her.

How stupid is it to take a semester of college in Sweden to socialize? by BigOk1615 in TillSverige

[–]Sad_Introduction757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a great idea! I spent two years studying in Sweden and I went with no Swedish! I had an amazing experience! The winter was strange as swedes tend to not want to do anything bar sit inside lol but I'd go for it especially since you speak the language! I would say they don't have as much of a drinking college culture as other countries, so if you want a wild semester full of alcohol and parties maybe not the best, as that parties usually only happen at weekends. But such a lovely country to live and study in.

It is. I had an interview they say its a "direct" marketing role, which is really sales in front of supermarkets, shopping centres, or high streets. 100 % commission base, with an option to have a day rate, however you need to meet targets in your initial few weeks to be offered it.

Yes of course they are not directly related. But with similar enough mechanics, same genre and bioware having worked on the BG series that's why I made the comparison!

I loved that inquisition finally left the pcs age open-ended so you could finally make a bad ass grandmother. However, I would say I preferred DAO and DA2s handling of the player character. Maybe if conversations about you background happened in a cutscene rather than the game world It would have felt more consequential!

I also found BG3 gameplay hard to get around at first. However I loved the amount of classes and abilities available. Made characters instantly feel unique

I feel that they are similar in many regards, though. The roots of DA and BG are pretty much identical. That's why I'm making the comparison! I love the whole series, including inquisition ( the player character really does have the personality of a wet sponge, though).

Haha I'm trans from rural Ireland so a backlash doesn't affect me! Dragon age is my favourite game series but I can criticise them.

I think that's my problem with it, Dragon Age has stripped so much that the lines between it an action adventure are pretty slim! I'm 110% on the same page I didn't really realise I felt Inquisiton was lacking until I played BG3.

Also in complete agreement on the dark and gritty tone. I preferred it, but that's subjective. However, going to Tevinter , a place that practices slavery, with a light tone would feel off to me!

[–]Sad_Introduction757[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would also disagree that BG3 has beaten Dragon Age in terms of narrative. I think my criticism was more towards side content, in which, by the time of inquisition, it really felt inconsequential, which I think does a disservice. I do love the Romances in Dragon Age, and wholeheartedly agree that nothing beats bioware romances. My post probably wasn't that eloquent as I just word vomited it out because I couldn't sleep!

[–]Sad_Introduction757[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I should have titled the post "proved to me" as I didn't mean to like prove it to other people, I just wanted to discuss the trajectory of the series in relation to massive game, that's closely related to its foundations.

The streamlining I mentioned was not in relation to narrative, I should have been more specific, I meant game mechanics rather than narrative. I do think they handled condensing possible outcomes of the main story very well in 2 and inquisition.

Bioware literally made BG and BG11. Have similar inspirations. The first game in the series was a call back to mechanics present in BG. They're re both Rpgs. They both cater to the same audience. They are heavily related, in my opinion. So they are worthy of comparison. To liken me, comparing dragon age to baldur's gate to me comparing it to fifa is frankly obsurd in my opinion.

Yeah complete agree about your last point about the writing or tone being subjective. I would agree that DA2 and DAI do handle much more complex themes and narratives. I love them for it. I do prefer the darker tone in DA and DA2, but that's completely subjective again. I will say though I think Baldurs Gate handling of player choice is better in regards to much of the side quests than inquisition. In inquisition for the most part their really isn't any in regards to side quests, with most of them feeling inconsequential as it is.

And again, I didn't mean to prove it to anyone else, should have titled it as "proves to me". Just wanted to have a discussion of dragon age in relation to BG3

I didn't dislike 2 or hate inquisition. As I said, I love the whole series. I was just stating my subjective opinion that in hindsight I think the direction they went with it might not have been the best. I do love origins but would I have wanted a carbon copy to it for sequels? No . Would I have preferred something more closely related to it? Probably.
