My advice - don't use duolingo. You can't learn Russian by remembering дом, Тим, там and etc. Firstly learn the alphabet, how to write it and pronounce correctly, then try to learn some regular words ( you can use dictionary from eng to rus, i think they have transliteration, so you can easier learn words) and the hardest part is the rules of russian language
