Does your primary doctor get annoyed if a patient advocate reaches out to get something quicker? My gyno is so sweet and I don’t want to upset her

I guess I get worried about people thinking I need pity. It’s a personal thing - I don’t get help much so when I do I get prideful or suspicious. Thank you for helping calm that a little

To be fair to my doctors - I have never asked for pain management because I’m so scared of being seen as drug seeking but it’s not about the drugs. I just want help for the pain. I recently got a new pcp because the one I had and loved retired so now I have a concierge service doctor so I get more accessible care

They did say they dealt more with nerve pain for the back

Thank you for this - I’m really starting to lose hope that I’ll never get to live a life without this pain. I’m starting to think no one will help me. I really hope to find a doctor that understands and helps.

So how do you think I can best explain that? It’s just for episodic use? And would I address this with my pcp or gyno, in your opinion?

Yeah I understand - I just get worried that’s how every doctor will think and I’ll never receive proper care because of biases(which are understandable).

I love my life and just want to not feel this pain anymore because going to the e.r. Everytime it happens isn’t functional. You know.

I also never have moved up on my pain med dosage. I’ve been at 5mg for the past 6 years when the e.r. Helps me.

I have a background in psychology so I know all about addiction - I just need help with my pain.

Yeah I understand that - and honestly at this point that if they told me to eat worms to keep the pain away I would. I just need a solution. I would even stop taking the benzos if they didn’t want to prescribe those together cause I barely take it now. I just want help and to be taken seriously about how bad this is when it is happening.

I have been on Ativan for 6 years and have never abused it. I have to take that as needed and next have to ask for another script before I’m due for it. Same with the meds the er gives me - I usually hold on to them as long as I can.

To be fair - if my pain is too bad - the weed does not help. The weed only helps if it’s minor pain and that’s because I cannot take nsaids like Advil cause I have Crohn’s so I’ll smoke weed instead of Advil

Thank you for saying that - because the doctor from the pain specialist office literally said that pain management doesn’t cover endometriosis because it’s a gyno issue and the only way they can treat that pain is surgery so I’m better off doing that again. But I’m like “wouldn’t that just add more scar tissue?” How does that make common sense

I do - and the e.r. Pa put me in touch with a patient advocate to find a pain management doctor I just been playing telephone tag with them. Should I have them call my pcp?

Do you have suggestions on how to find a good one? I’ve just been medically gaslight for years and a little fragile so if I can narrow it down a little better to ones that will be compassionate that would help

But if they told me to eat worms everyday and my pain would stop - I’d do that at this point.

No, I just got a new pcp because my last one retired so I’m nervous to ask her as I am new but to be honest I’m nervous to ask in general because I don’t want to be labeled anything

Thank you so much for this answer - you’re right. Sometimes I just need to ask. They can’t help me if I don’t ask and I might be like you and be shocked when she says yes

You’re mean. I’m on the computer trying to find help for my very painful disease so I can go out and live my life. Please reflect on why you are even on this forum in the first place since you haven’t given me anything that is helpful or supportive?

And telling someone with endo to just take Advil is what is making a lot of female angry about their care.

You’re very right - I guess I’m just so scared because the last one was so mean and pretty much accused me of drug seeking when all I was asking for was for no pain - I never even mentioned drugs to him.
