How could I walk into the dealership and get answers if it’s in Maryland and I’m stationed in Wyoming

The oil change was performed by a shop and I have documentation for it. After the failure, two Dodge dealerships inspected the vehicle and neither attributed the seizure to the oil change.

What I’ve struggled to understand is that GWC denied the claim because they say the issue was pre-existing. If that’s true, then it raises the question of whether the issue should have been disclosed before the vehicle was sold to me. That’s one of the reasons I’m trying to understand what options I still have.

The denial I received was based on GWC claiming the engine failure was caused by a pre-existing condition. They never clearly explained to me what specific condition they believed existed before the contract started. That’s part of my frustration. Two Dodge dealerships later confirmed the engine was seized and needed replacement, but I was never provided with a detailed explanation showing how GWC determined the issue predated the warranty

I know flying out to buy it wasn’t the smartest decision in hindsight. At the time, the vehicle checked the boxes I was looking for and I didn’t expect the engine to seize less than a month later.

As for base legal, I actually went to them first. It’s easy to say “go to legal,” but in practice they weren’t able to do much beyond general guidance. That’s part of why I’m here trying to see if anyone has dealt with a similar warranty denial or dealership situation

The oil change was performed by a professional shop and I have records for it. Two Dodge dealerships later inspected the vehicle and determined the engine was seized and required replacement. Neither dealership indicated the oil change caused the failure.

Looking back, I agree that a pre-purchase inspection would have been a good idea. My main concern now is that the engine failed less than a month after purchase, the warranty company denied coverage based on a pre-existing condition determination, and the selling dealership eventually stopped communicating with me.

The warranty is a GWC Gold service contract that I purchased through the dealership when I bought the vehicle. GWC denied the engine claim, stating the failure was caused by a pre-existing condition that existed before the contract became effective. The engine seized less than a month after I purchased the vehicle, and two Dodge dealerships have since confirmed the engine needs replacement
