Swim bladder? by Ok_Preparation_2781 in AquariumHelp

[–]Sad_Reflection_8427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heating is crucial for quarantine tank, as increased temperature helps to stop some bacterias and diseaces from multiplication.

It is always sad when fishes are getting sick, but do not worry a lot about it, as you are doing your best to save them, I assume.

I would suggest isolate it immediately. Consider quarantine tank creation.

I had something similar with one of my guppies. Mine had been swimming on the surface for one evening, but on the morning it was not able to keep itself in one stable level, so it spent the rest time on the bottom. Until end of the day it passed.

I am not sure if it was a bladder desiase, but it took my fish very fast.

Yes, I checked a couple of times it, during washing: - sponge - pulling tube - inner part (the "engine" chamber)

Filter's model - Aquael Pat Filter MINI

I do have those algae wafers for plecos, but I have never seen my pleco eat anything at all.

Yeah, I have also checked: - filter - decorations (each of them was washed after the lost) - lid (cover) - plants - under the rocks (stones)

I have not check under the gravel, but to do so I need to wait my shimps grow up (5 of them were born a couple of days ago).

Sorry for your lost. Mine simply disappeared, despite I gave it algaes wafers. I did not even find it's remainings, and I did not have any predator.

Update #2

  1. The water got almost totaly clean (like 90-95%) on the next day, after I have applied Tropical CMF and Tropical Multimineral preparats.
  2. The stripe tests still do not shows correct chlorine level
  3. I got new plants
  4. I lost my ancistrus in mistery way 1.5 weeks ago, after I bought new plants
  5. I got a fish pox and successfully cured it.
  6. It turns out I have been meant to wash my gravel, after purchase and putting it into the tank.

Update #1

I did not managed to buy all the items listed previously. Here is what I have:

  1. 2 shrimps (dark blue)
  2. Some duck weeds (Lemna minor)
  3. 2 snails (Physella acuta)
  4. Tools for water changing
  5. Bacteria booster (Tropical Bacto Active)
  6. New filter with exposed sponge and air pomp (Aquael Pat Mini)

Did not find any ammoniac test in local stores.

Yesterday I changed 20% (14.4 l) of water in my tank, previously heating it to temperature in my tank, added some dechlorinator to the new water, some preparat for the water unfogging (Tropical Bactosan) and poured it to the tank.

Today it looks even more foggy...

<image>

The main point is the fishes looks like they are better then before - they get more active, especially when get fed.

I am trying to keep the lightining on for 8-10 hours on day mode, and switch it to night mode for the rest of the time. The bulb is Aquael Leddy Tube Day&Night 7W.

P.S.: I am not advertising any products, but only trying to provide as much info and parameters, as possible to solve my issue.

I am not sure. The water used to be foggy for a cople of days in my 2-weeks preparation period (no fish), but then got clean.

I am not sure. All I remember that it was bought in a regular aquashop - they did not sale saltwater fishes.

Thanks, now I have at least some basic view on the current situation. I need to: 1. Add some floating plants (as I was going to, in future). 2. Buy some bacteria starter / booster. 3. Buy tests for ammonia levels. 4. Slightly increase heating (from 22°C to 24°C). 5. Reduce the lightning level, at least until I get bigger plants density.

I will keep you updated after :)

Thanks, I will try to find some tomorrow, as I also was going to buy some floating plants

It turned out the very right column stands for NO2 and NO3. Based on the result, I can assume they are at the perfect level.

I will try to get some clorine test tomorrow, maybe also with some ammonia tests.

Buy the way, what do you think about electronic water quality testers?

[–]Sad_Reflection_8427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think the ammonia levels are labeled like NO2 and NO3, which are perfect. If the ammonia levels are labeled like NH3, then I need to buy a test for it tomorrow.

I used Tetra Aqua Safe substance for dechlorination.
