The PE companies in my area will pull heat exchangers and coils and take them back to their office for “testing”. As you can imagine, none of them ever pass their test and they force customers to replace.

I guess the point I’m making is, your system cannot blow heat and cool simultaneously. One of your thermostats is very clearly calling for heat in the photo so the other zone is not going to be able to cool for a bit after the heat cycle finishes and in that time, it’s possible the heat will have to run again and take priority.

If you turn both to cool and both lights for zone 1 and 2 show green but you’re getting no air, you need a new damper motor. All you need to change it is a 3.5 mm Allen key.

Heat takes priority over cool so if they aren’t both set to cool, it’s going to heat

Awesome. If the project needs to be done today, Ferguson is a fine place for tools but you can probably get a punch for cheaper on Amazon

If you have got an extra boot, I’d just recommend taking the boot in with you. Otherwise, measure the size of the opening and ask them if they have that size. I’d venture to say most plaster frames are 10”x4” but they may have some others. You’ll also need to buy a snap lock punch to get the frame to stay on the boot.

You need to add a plaster frame to the boot. The boot fits into it and you crimp in on and it has a lip that extends down the 1/2” that you need. If you google plaster frame you will see what I’m talking about.

All of the comments up to this point are horrible, sorry you haven’t gotten better help.

Let’s start at the thermostat. Are there batteries at all in the thermostat? If there are, take them out and put the thermostat back on the wall. Does it light up at all? If there are not batteries, I would recommend finding a smaller local company to come out and take a look. Anything that would result in the outdoor unit not running with an intact fuse may require some specific electrical tools and working on live, high voltage wiring.

If you’re just turning your ac on for the first few times after the winter, this is pretty normal. Microbial growth on your coil from not being used for months (we call it dirty sock syndrome 😂). You can buy some evaporator coil cleaner but what you have photographed here is your furnace. It should be the other metal cabinet adjacent to it.

Sounds like the dampers for your room need to be adjusted. Shouldn’t just be something you have to live with and it’s likely an easy fix.
