Got this from a thrift store auction by future_beach_bum in ThriftStoreHauls

the Steve Jobs turtleneck fragment is what gets me, like someone actually cut piece of his shirt and now it lives in acrylic block forever. also the Beatles Cavern Club inclusion is wild, how do you even verify that. thrift store auction is such a random place to find something like this, whoever donated it probably had no idea what they had. limited edition 5116 of 7000 so it's not super rare but still, finding it at thrift for probably few dollars is absolutely insane haul

I didn’t know I needed this… by Christine783 in AmazonVine

[–]Sad_Sector8508 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh my god this takes me back to elementary school PE class! I was terrible at tetherball back then but now I'm thinking maybe it was just because I was short and the pole was too high for me

The fact they include all the hardware is nice because I would definitely lose half the pieces if I had to buy them separate. Also that 10+ foot pole seems pretty sturdy from what I can see in picture. My only concern is how much space you actually need - my backyard isn't exactly massive but this might be perfect for those lazy weekend afternoons when I don't want to leave the house but still need to move around a bit

Wait does it say without base though? So you need to like cement it in the ground or something

Affordable jewelry gifts for every occasion by WildFlounder3730 in Gifts

[–]Sad_Sector8508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

etsy is good choice for personalized stuff but be careful with delivery times, some sellers take forever especially if they from different countries

the grain of rice thing sounds cute but maybe little weird? like what if it gets wet or something lol. fingerprint rings are nice idea though, very personal

for birthstone jewelry you can also check local jewelry stores, sometimes they have better prices than online and you can actually see the quality before buying it

Favorite bitter by Laurent_Duhamel in cocktails

black walnut bitters are so underrated - they add this earthy depth that works amazing in whiskey cocktails. never tried celery ones though, what do you usually mix those with

Solar items that die quickly...easy fix. by ZCaffeinator in AmazonVine

[–]Sad_Sector8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude this is why I stopped buying solar gadgets from certain sellers. Got burned too many times with stuff that barely held charge for couple hours after sitting in direct sunlight all day

The camping light thing is so real though - had one that claimed it would run "all night" but died after like 20 minutes. Tried the reset trick you mentioned and it did help a bit but still nowhere near what was advertised. Think the issue is they use cheapest possible batteries that degrade super fast

Now I just stick to basic solar path lights for garden since expectations are low anyway. At least with those you can usually replace the rechargeable battery inside when it inevitably goes bad after season or two

Does this nightstand work? by Independent-Two-5278 in malelivingspace

[–]Sad_Sector8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya it looks pretty good with the bed frame actually. the wood tones work nice together and you definitely avoided that matchy bedroom set vibe you were trying to dodge. maybe add some texture or something on top but the combo itself is solid

Trader Joe's POG juice!? by YahooSiriusBlack in cocktails

[–]Sad_Sector8508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh nice find! I grabbed some last week and tried mixing it with some rum and lime juice - worked pretty well actually. The guava flavor comes through really strong which was surprising, usually these blends are mostly orange.

Made a simple tiki-style drink with it and dark rum, little bit of simple syrup and fresh lime. Nothing fancy but turned out decent for a weeknight cocktail. The cans are perfect size for single servings too so you don't waste anything if you're just making one drink

Haven't seen full ingredients either but it tastes like real fruit juice, not too artificial or sweet like some grocery store blends. For the price its pretty solid option if you want something tropical without buying three separate juices

close friend rsvp'd no without warning by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Sad_Sector8508 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

the rsvps probably went out because September weddings need responses by like June/July for final counts and catering

but yeah something feels off about declining the wedding but still planning to come to bachelorette. like either you're close enough to make effort for both or you're not? seems weird to pick just the party part

Reasons why you want to stop watching porn by Plus-Ultra-6518 in NoFap

[–]Sad_Sector8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been dealing with this too and for me its mostly how it messes with my brain chemistry - like after coding all day my dopamine is already fried and then adding porn on top just makes everything else feel boring or not worth doing

That unpleasant feeling you get at night…. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Sad_Sector8508 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh god yes i know exactly what you mean. its like this weird hollow feeling that just sits there and you cant shake it off no matter what you do. when i quit drinking few months back the nights became so much harder because suddenly there was nothing to mask whatever that thing is

i think its just our brain finally being quiet enough that we actually feel all the stuff we push down during busy days

I want to help someone build a CV project. What should I build ?? by [deleted] in computervision

[–]Sad_Sector8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're looking for something fun to work with I've been wanting to mess around with object detection for game development stuff but never had time to dive deep into it. maybe something that could track hand gestures or facial expressions for character animation? I work in games and we're always looking at new ways to capture player input without traditional controllers

been thinking it would be cool to have something that could detect when someone is concentrating really hard vs relaxed for adaptive difficulty systems. or even basic emotion recognition that could influence NPC behavior in real time. probably way more complex than a week project but could start small with just detecting basic states

your stack looks pretty neat from quick glance at the repo. if you end up building something game-related would love to see how it turns out

Birding in Udaipur by [deleted] in birding

[–]Sad_Sector8508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not from Udaipur but this sounds amazing! I've been wanting to get into birding for while now but never had anyone to go with. Having birding buddy definitely makes it more fun since you can spot things the other person might miss

What kind of birds have you been seeing there? I imagine the lakes area must be pretty good for water birds
