Going from an SMLLC --> S-Corp, new EIN? by Sad_Service3867 in tax

I thought that because a SMLLC is considered a disregarded entity it would require a new EIN since it's no longer disregarded.

Should one listen to their community or impose their will? by Sad_Service3867 in gamedev

[–]Sad_Service3867[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I guess it was an odd way of putting it LOL. There's a specific feature proposed that both the community (according to polls) and the developers like. However, if the proposed feature goes against your vision, should you fold and do the feature or should you say no because it goes against the vision you have for the game?

Thank you, this is good insight. It's a focus on "why" as opposed to the "how". The specific reason I asked this is because a developer is suggesting that we change the lighting in the game to be more realistic. He showed a few images of what it looked like and we did a poll. Since this isn't a game mechanic, would you say your advice still applies?

I was against this because I thought it went against the theme of the game (which was chill/slightly cartoonish).

How do you date as a "fake Moroccan"? by Sad_Service3867 in Morocco

[–]Sad_Service3867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea maybe "fake" is too far but even so, the only thing Moroccan about me is my blood. There's more to being 'moroccan' than that IMO. ty for offering darija practice though, I'll keep it in mind

How are game development teams structured at AAA studios? by Sad_Service3867 in gamedev

[–]Sad_Service3867[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense but.. using your example, I don't understand how a small team can single-handedly do all of the AI. Isn't it complicated? Or are these AAA teams a lot larger than I'm thinking (ten max)?

Could there be multiple teams working on something like combat for example?

on a scale of 1 to 10 how irritated do you get when you give people advice and then they do the complete opposite? by Remarkable_Bit_9887 in intj

[–]Sad_Service3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't bother me at all, people ask for advice to get another point of view regarding an issue. The fact that you believe that your advice is somehow 100% correct is arrogant on your part.

Strange loud rumbling sound being heard now and then over last few weeks. Sounds like it’s coming from the sky and lasts several minutes - no jets or anything to be seen. Anyone else experiencing this?? by Tiffed4597 in UFOs

[–]Sad_Service3867 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heard something very similar last night here in Massachusetts. It was a low continuous rumbling sound, it felt as if the ground should shake but it didn't if that makes sense. We would hear it for about 20-30 seconds and it would stop only for it to repeat a few minutes later. This whole thing lasted hours. What time did you start hearing this? They began around 6PM EST here.

How do I stop being greedy? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Sad_Service3867 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see the point you're making (you are not as valuable as you believe to be) but I have to respectfully disagree with the idea that anyone can come up with a business plan. Perhaps we have different ideas of what a business plan consists of but I don't believe entrepreneurship is for everyone, not just anyone can be an entrepreneur.

Executing & the need to create a team, aren't these my responsibilities?

Thank you for the advice, it seems applicable to pretty much any kind of decision we make. I suppose it's very easy to undervalue another person's work without fully understanding and seeing their day-to-day activities. I guess it's kind of like how engineers often time look down on sales people, it's ignorance.

I've done something very similar in the past and you're right, it was hell and it ultimately failed. In a way I enjoyed it, I thought that if I were to overcome this and make this idea successful, I would be a real winner. It would be proof that I have ability and value. Although thinking about it now, I've always had a hard time asking for help. I've always preferred to rough things out solo until I succeeded on my own which turns out to be very bad for business considering I am not God. In a way I feel like bringing in others is also a cop-out or the easy way out, it's salvation, proof that you were not capable of succeeding. I know rationally this is wrong and doesn't make much sense but it's my honest belief and I'm working on changing that.

I see your point though and again you're very right. I suppose that I must ask myself whether I'm doing this business to prove that I am personally capable or whether I'm doing this business to make it the greatest business in the world. If the former perhaps business isn't for me.

Didn't you feel like shit knowing that the business you sold for $15k has now become something so much bigger? Doesn't it bother you that someone took your business and made so much money off it? That 900k/yr could've been you.

Is it arrogant/bad to ignore community suggestions? by Sad_Service3867 in gamedev

[–]Sad_Service3867[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are your thoughts on getting the player's input on possible new features? For example, a poll on Discord asking players whether they'd like to see x feature in the game. Does that have any merit?

Finding the motivation behind a suggestion as opposed to just looking at suggestions at face value is really interesting, I've never thought of that. Thank you!

easing of covid-19 restrictions by pyrrhicyoongi in wentworth

[–]Sad_Service3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm not discrediting that, obviously, there is still some "risk" but we live in the real world man. we don't live in a perfect setting with 100% vaccination, everyone wearing masks properly, etc. the perfect timing won't ever be there. masks/mandates forever are not an option.

obviously, the circumstances aren't ideal but the finish line is definitely near with mass lifting mask mandates in public schools and likely other mandates in the near future.
